I promise I haven’t abandoned this blog!!! I was hoping to make a whole pseudo first chapter comic but I lowk can’t be asked so here’s some of the art that I have completed and a snippet of Izumi and Kyubey conversation that kickstarts her magical girl journey.

[AFTER EP1 BACKSTORY FLASHBACKS AND HER CONFRONTATION WITH ALL MIGHT]

Izumi: I wanted to be a hero

Kyubey: That’s not true at all, you still want to be a hero.

Izumi: But All Might-

Kyubey: Why should he decide that though?

Izumi: Are you kidding me? He’s like the most powerful man on the planet!!

Kyubey: In terms of quirks, yes.

Izumi: What do you mean…

Kyubey: There’s other ways power can manifest y’know…

Emotions, intelligence (such as your quirk analysis) When used correctly can exert a lot of power over people. You’re a person who feels very strongly, you’d be an amazing magical girl.

Izumi: *stares blankly*

Kyubey: Humour me for a moment.

Izumi: *nods slowly*

Kyubey: For example, Hope. You humans continue to frame hope as something intangible, an emotion to be cherished for its own sake.

However, hope possesses remarkable energetic potential precisely because it exists in companionship with uncertainty. At the instant a wish is granted, a magical girl becomes empowered by the very hope that drove her to make her wish.

Izumi: And this hypothetical power manifests as a quirk or something? If that’s what I wished for?

Kyubey: Your hope fuels extraordinary abilities, some even aiding or surpassing the surface level use of quirks - converting emotional potential directly into usable energy!

Izumi: *Izumi ponders this for a while, seeming to consider the strange creatures proposal, but quickly shakes herself out of it* Forget it, this is crazy.

*stands on the railing*

If there really was a way, to wish for any one thing - It doesn’t matter

Kyubey: What would you wish for

Kyubey: If you were a magical girl? What wish would make your soul gem shine

Kyubey: What’s the use of throwing your life away? When you have so much potentia-

Izumi: OF COURSE I DON’T WANT TO DIE! BUT WHAT USE DOES SOMEBODY LIKE ME HAVE! I DON’T have a quirk! And I DON’T have potential. I should just swan dive and just pray for a quirk in my next li-

Kyubey: *suddenly darts forward*

Izumi: *startled by the movement, jolts backwards and falls off the railing*

As you can see, I’m not that great at writing dialogue, I wish I could turn this into a fic but I can’t write for shit😭😭😭

More thought should probably be put into how these guys became magical girls in the first place but I can’t help but just want to skip ahead to the cool magi-shounen battles and witch designs!!

Like they go "do I make this transgender woman into a cisgender man? Do I make this transgender man into a cisgender woman?" Like bro? You can still keep their transgender identity?

If you are genderbending a character who is FTM, make them MTF. If you are genderbending a character who is MTF, make them FTM. I promise you, it is NOT that hard to comprehend??

And, while it matters on the specific identity, because androgynous genders are more tricky I will admit, some nonbinary characters fit this too. Like if you want to genderbend a agender nonbinary character, pangender is RIGHT there. And vise versa.
