My guess is that your computer can’t handle running the two programs at once. Try closing out of all other programs and restarting your computer. If that doesn’t solve the issue, try a different program. Are you doing this on a Mac? I know QuickTime is one of the more useless programs on Windows. I’m not sure that I can recommend a good screen capture program, but I use QuickTime on my Mac and Nvidia’s experience (I don’t really remember what it’s called) on my Windows.
