For Mac: I used a lovely little software called GeekTool, available for free. It doesn’t do everything for you, though, you need to use scripts, called Geeklets, some of which are available here and via DeviantArt searching for geeklets and geektool. You need to tweak them around a bit but once you’re done it looks very neat, doesn’t it? I think I was inspired by this; I honestly wish I had the patience and time to recreate this. This is also pretty cool. Really do browse DeviantArt for this, you’ll find great things! If you’re more talented or patient than me you could have some really incredible results :)

For Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8: I can’t go into detail here because I don’t know how it works but I know a similar software exists called Rainmeter and I’m told it’s easier to work with, so lucky you if you can use it! For both of these you can easily google dozens of tutorials and scripts so have fun!

One of crucial parts of my GTD system is Trello where I hold all of my todo lists.

For quite long time I was frustrated with how cumbersome is it to keep it always open. Don't get me wrong - I don't have anything against web based applications and think Trello is great, but I almost always accidently foget and close it. I've experimented with pinned tabs and other solutions, but none of them did what I wanted.

I've decided to take things in my own hands and write GeekTool widget that will simply print list of Trello cards on my desktop.
