I always think a shortbread is a great thing to bring to any event as a) they aren’t complicated to make so less panic is involved b) they taste amazing and c) it doesn’t matter if they look a bit…rustic. They are a forgiving biscuit as they don’t need to be rolled out extra thin, and can even be hand pressed into discs if you’ve not got any cookie cutters. You can also add other stuff to them - spices, essences, or chocolate chips, or even dried fruit - for extra yum.

The BBC food website is excellent for all sorts of recipes, including Bake Off ones.

If you want easy and no hassle I’d go for a cinnamon or chocolate chip. If you want something a bit showier, then orange, cardamon and chocolate - a la Candice Brown from Bake Off 2016 - might be really tasty. Go for what you personally enjoy first, because you’re making them and therefore are most important.
