We are in the post-Lover and the failed coming out era. She was the sheriff of a queer town which was a dream that didn’t come true. She didn’t get to be out and open.

No one writes about tragedy without experiencing it themselves. I don’t think you can grasp the concept without a lived experience.

Also, why have they written always imagined in quotes.

Furthermore, she talks about breaking free and leaving it all in ruins, taking the dagger and removing it. She talks about regret and the contrasting reality of where she is and where she wanted to be.
