Voici la deuxième partie de mon article sur ma traduction de Kaamelott en italien. Veuillez m'excuser si, désormais, j'utilise l'anglais, mais je ne veux pas risquer de faire des erreurs avec le français.
So, leaving aside names that are now well-established in my language like Artù, Ginevra, Merlino, and Lancillotto, I must say a few words about Perceval, Gauvain, Yvain and Bohort.
Perceval doesn't have a real official variant in Italian (in old literature, like 200 years ago, he was called Percivalle, a variant dead nowadays), but, by now, in every Arthurian-themed product of the last few decades you will find it 99% of the time written as Parsifal. Gauvain, on the other hand, would be Galvano, and, for example, this name was used in Excalibur (1981) and in the Merlin series. But in recent years, Gawain has prevailed over Galvano, considered more antiquated, and, in line with this, I chose Gawain.
The same goes for Yvain, whose Italian counterpart in the Arthurian epic would be Ivano (Sir Tristan/Tristano and Sir Lucan/Lucano suffer a similar fate), but, being a knight who rarely appears, like Bohort, I chose to keep the original and the same goes for Bohort, who remained identical in place of Bors, given the scarcity of appearances of the latter in modern media.
Igerne is commonly called by her original English name Ygraine or Igraine. Morgane becomes Morgana. The Lady of the Lake Viviane becomes Viviana. The rest of the characters' names have either undergone minor variations (for example, King Loth becomes Lot and the Latin names of Romans are Italianized, as has always been the case in our historiography, so Gaius Manilius becomes Gaio Manilio, Cæsar Cesare etc) or they remain unchanged, being "minor" knights in Arthurian media.
