@bleekay posted a link to that weird free synthetic landscape generator, and i couldn't help mucking around with it for old time's sake, bc I used to play with Bryce 3D fractal rendering back in the 90s which took bloody forever

this is a little more simple and unpredictable, but of course the textures and resolution have progressed, so?

first attempt AS USUAL looks like the ugliest failed MYST island ever just like my first Bryce art

second attempt? not too bad?

i drew this

which it translated into

playing around with lighting

And then for my third attempt I was amused to find that 25 years later, low-budget algorithmically generated trees (as opposed to ones done with expensive high-end software) are just as bizarre as ever

i kind of made a swoop of road surface and mud on the lefthand side of the slope to give it more interest

and then i realized the mystery box button with the question marks was a randomizer for lighting and got carried away
