i just finished it for the first time. it’s really great. 

Today I had previews for the Clint Eastwood train terrorist movie, Red Sparrows (Jennifer Lawrence Russian spy movie), the new movie about Israel’s raid on Entebbe from a guy who worked on Narcos, the John Hamm hostage negotiator movie (it’s just called Beirut, this was the first I’ve heard of it), and Sicario 2 (I never ended up seeing argo Argo, my Dad got a boot from somebody but it didn’t work)

thanks it looks really washed out in the picture but i also drew a lil sun in the middle ;) 

i watched the first season, it came out when i was a college freshman and a huge group of people would gather at the college radio station general manager’s house every week (the day after it aired because they didn’t have cable and we were pirating the eps) to watch the new episode. the pilot was good (it had certainly already been done by 28 days later but the premise of someone waking up after a coma/hospitalization to find the world ended and trying to figure out what’s going on is fun to watch) and the second episode was okay but it was all downhill from there and once the season was over i was done. i also got bored of the comics series not that far in. people trying to survive in an inhospitable wasteland and getting picked off is an inherently unsustainable premise, the whole thing is based on the idea that they’re holding off their inevitable deaths for as long as possible but the world is over and their luck will run out, except the main character’s luck doesn’t run out and rick and his kid keep encountering other new survivors who can be the ones to die, over and over for 8 seasons/150+ issues

people at work (not my age but mid 30s to early 40s) talking about binging the old seasons to get ready to see what that badass negan does this season 

Sure, but this was written when it came out as an immediate response to seeing it when David Lynch had only made Eraserhead, Dune, and The Elephant Man and people didn’t really know where he was coming from. I don’t think he’s right but I think his articulation of what he doesn’t like about it is a good insight into how someone else can perceive a movie in a different way than you do
