New Garrosh image for @swampgallows
it is the year 2026 and i'm still drawing this one specific flavour of idiot that spoke to my heart.
Practice practice :0
When he was still around, I hated him so much for what he did that every time I saw him I wanted to kill him myself. But now that things have come to this, I just miss him very much.
I'm curious, when it comes to WoW why do you seem to disregard Orcs as the quintessential Warrior race?
The Orc's signature class is the Shaman The culture of nearly every Orc clan places the Shaman in a position of veneration.
Conversely, Orc Warriors only ever destroy Orc culture. Grom Hellscream took the promise of the power to slay all his enemies and enslaved his people to the Burning Legion. And Garrosh idolizes that crap.
Take this line from him
'We die bloody and thrashing on the field of battle! Like true Orcs should!' - Warchief Garrosh Hellscream
And that's exactly what Orc Warriors do: Die. Their mantra is "Victory or Death" and so often it is death. The Orcs have been beaten back by nearly every enemy they have ever fought. Their victories are short-lived as they overextend themselves.
Garrosh is viewed by Orc mains as this cool badass real warrior, but not only does Garrosh swing around stolen valor, his legacy is one of complete and utter failure. Garrosh achieved nothing. As a warrior, he is weak, ineffective, reckless and stupid. He drove the Horde to defeat after defeat.
Garrosh's achievements that other characters applaud him for are things he stole credit for. Wherever Garrosh claims victory, the Champion is usually there doing most of the work for him.
Garrosh is a larper. He's stealing valor. He takes the skull of Mannoroth and mounts it onto his throne, and takes the tusks for his shoulderplates. He takes a symbol of the Orcs freeing themselves from demonic corruption and converts it into a symbol of his personal strength. Strength he has not earned. An act that is commented by many as a disgrace to his own people and his father.
This isn't someone who embodies the Horde, this is an impotent, petulant child posturing to feel like a big man. He steals credit and symbols of the Orcs for himself to empower only himself.
We can also look at Varok Saurfang to see the other side of this supposed veneration of Orc Warriors. Varok is a corpse limping around waiting to die. His obsession with honor and glory, of wanting an honorable 'good war' is shown as the deranged, suicidal ravings of a sad, broken man.
Orcs romanticize a "warrior's death" and feel it's an insult to die at an old age in your sleep. But dying at an old age in your sleep is what Warriors who are good at being Warriors do.
He is called out explicitly for such a selfish view of glory.
"Maybe you don't care if your people die so long as it's 'honourable', but to me this Horde is worth saving. Anyone who disagrees does not deserve to stand among us." - Warchief Sylvanas Windrunner
Orcish "Warrior Culture" is a death cult of insecure masculinity, one that is directly responsible for the destruction of the Orcs' homeworld and their years in captivity. It has destroyed their culture and broken them as a people as completely and thoroughly as Capitalism destroys ours.
To suggest that the Orcs' signature class is the Warrior when it's the one class Orcs have so completely and thoroughly failed to actually be in a way that doesn't destroy them is an interpretation of the story so shallow and so driven by aesthetics that WoW spends so much time deliberately subverting that I question why someone so disinterested in the story is so opinionated on it.
It would be like suggesting that Paladins are the "quintessential good guys" when the best story WoW ever told was about that decidedly NOT being the case, and the many times Paladins have been cast as the villains.
I can't think of any point WoW has hammered home more consistently than "Orcish obsession with embodying the Warrior is a death spiral that has destroyed them as a people."

...for some reason watching stranger things has made me INCREDIBLY nostalgic for WoW? like?? hi garrosh invading my brain again? here he is in a peacebloom crown (i almost went for gromsblood but then decided against it cause i would have been crying for hours).
Happy new year! 🥳 ☆*: .。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆
Starting off with a massive sketchbook dump from november to december! ♪(^∇^*) aaaaa I'm so happy to finally post it alll!!! 💖💥
So long story short, I've first started this sketchbook in 2019 as an observational sketchbook when I was in art school, but I've never finished it. I was cleaning my room one day and I randomly found it, so I decided to finish it by just drawing what I want (✿◡‿◡) and I've been playing a lot of WoW (esp since Legion remix came out) and Warcraft 3 lately, I think it shows! 👀
