#garlic scape

This weekend, my partner found one last container of garlic scape lambs quarter pesto in our freezer that we had missed (we thought that it was chicken broth - he's bad about labeling things). So tonight we feasted on sweet potato kale waffles with pesto aoli and it tasted like summer and I am so happy (so is my belly). Freezing pesto is one of the best ideas that we have ever implemented.

I am very excited to eat my chickweed - I'm going to let it grow a bit more first but we have had so much success with eating the weird wild greens from our garden so far.

I found a recipe for a hibiscus quick bread and I am so intrigued. I'll probably make some later this week because why not, life is shot, and there still isn't enough stuff growing outside to really experiment with yet.

My friend Nan promised me that she'll let me know this year when her forsythia blooms, so there is definitely forsythia simple syrup in my near future and I think that I have found a connect who has a safe-to-eat pink magnolia tree. Plus, I have major plans for dandelion this year - definitely jelly like last year but so much more! And this year I'm so sure experimenting with some lilac confections, as well.
