Most of you see a picture of a garbage can and you're probably thinking that I've lost my mind... well, all of that is true, but when I look at this, I see so much more than just a garbage can ruining the beauty of the picture of the trees... I see safety and security... I see honor... I see things as they should be... I see people are doing the right thing... I see hope.✨️✨️✨️ This garbage can isn't chained up or secured in any way. It's just there. No one steals it. No one messes with it, and it's full of garbage that would otherwise be in the park and on the street. I love living in Oak Harbor!! ❤️ I'm originally from New York, as you know, so when I moved here in 1982, it took me 5 years to stop locking my car when I went inside to pay for gas at 7-11. But then, I realized something... I live in a safe place. I went from locking my car to leaving my home unlocked all the time. My kids never had a key to the house, when they were growing up, because the house was always unlocked. It's that safe here, and there's a code of conduct in this town that is charming and refreshing. People don't litter very much. People are respectful of others and their property. It's a great way to live!!! Unfortunately, with recent events, my house is always locked, now, and I have many security measures in place to ensure Petey and I are safe. But it's nice to see that the town, where I didn't lock my house for over 20 years, is still the same charming town, where people are safe and can live in peace!! I wish the whole world would behave in this fashion and we all could live in peace and leave everything unlocked because we knew that we were safe in doing so... I have hope that someday we will all live in that world, but for now, I'm very grateful that I get to live here!!!! 🙏🏼 🏡🥳🎉🎊❤️❤️🐕🔐✨️💫🫂🫂
