Ramona lacks the energy to plaster a pleasant expression onto her face. It's an awkward bus ride to palmetto with the foxes turning their heads to send concerned glances her way.

She forces her mind to go blank as she stares out the window the whole way back. In the parking lot she hears dinner plans being discussed, but she doesn't stick around long enough to be invited. Then once in her dorm, Ramona drops her bags and collapses on the couch.

Her phone lights up as soon as she touches down. It buzzes once with the notification of an unknown number, and it takes a tremendous effort to look over at the screen. It says, "I know what happened to Seth." 

She curses at whoever keeps leaking her number because they always have the worst timing. She's about to delete the message, but the door jostling open stops her. Ramona stares at Nicky who just walked in. 

He looks rough enough that it quells any protests Ramona had been about to express. The look on his face chills her, and her bones grow colder at his words. He says, "Andrew wants to talk to you." 

Every step of theirs down the hallway signals her impending doom. It feels like the walls are getting narrower. In the monster's dorm, Nicky points to a closed door.

Ramona steps inside Andrew's dim room. He's sitting in front of a window, on a desk between the two bunk beds. His feet don't reach the floor. He says, "Shut the door."

She does it reluctantly, then flashes her phone screen at him. Her voice shakes less than she thinks it will, "Did you send this?"
