3 years have passed and it feels like a blink of an eye.
This series means more to me than I could ever put into words. The people I've met, the stories I've made, and the community I've found myself in-- it's been an absolutely wonderful ride, and some of the best memories I've ever had on the internet.
From the bottom of my heart, this series is so special to me. Thank you to everyone who supports me and adores this series as much as I do.
I asked myself "What do I want to draw for myself as a birthday thing?" and a vey large part of my brain said "angry bird dad" so here we are - Galeforce the Griffin King from ToD!
Galeforce Guide for Non-Galeforce KidsĀ (via Same-Sex Marriage and Gender-Lock Removal)
(Warning: This is super long, but I did my best trying to break things down into sections LOL. This is best viewed on the blog page than the dashboard!)
So, we all know how broken Galeforce is in Awakening, right? You know, the skill that allows the user to take two turns at once as long as you kill an enemy first?
Any character with access to Galeforce automatically would be shot up a few tiers due to the massive utility Galeforce serves. You can kill two enemies at once, kill one enemy and escape the danger zone, heck, Olivia could even Galeforce once and dance right after. When two Galeforce units are paired up, then that pair can act three times at once.
Yeah, Galeforce is a broken skill. But the worst part about Galeforce? It's locked to Pegasus Knights, meaning, for the most part, it's a female-only skill.
The only male units that can get Galeforce were Owain, Brady, and Inigo, and this is because their mothers could learn Galeforce and pass it down to them. Female child units without Pegasus mothers could inherit the class with proper parentage so that they could learn the skill themselves.
In the original game, there were 3 child units that could not inherit or achieve Galeforce whatsoever, and these were Gerome, Laurent, and Yarne. It was a huge shame really, since these three actually have great stats and have so much potential.
Thankfully, the Gay Awakening mod alone solves this problem by allowing non-Pegasus mothers to marry Pegasus-mothers. Also, with the gender-lock removal mod, Pegasus fathers can pass down the class to male children as well*.
In this guide, I'll be covering which parents allow for the original "Non-Galeforce Three" to inherit the Pegasus Knight class and Galeforce, and how to optimize each of these units.

Intro [I-N]
(Note: I will not be covering M/F pairings that pass down Pegasus Knight in my gender-lock removal mod.)
So, let's break it down first.
Gerome's designated mother is Cherche, Laurent's designated mother is Miriel, and Yarne's designated mother is Panne.
In the current version of the Gay Awakening mod, the possible new pairings for these mothers are as follows:
Cherche
Sumia
Miriel
Olivia
Sumia
Chrom (M/F)
Panne
Cordelia
Olivia
With the exception of Miriel/Chrom, all the new same-sex pairings allows for the Non-Galeforce Three to inherit the Pegasus Knight class. There is some slight overlap, so in order for each of the three to inherit Pegasus Knight, proper planning may be required if you want the most optimized team. However, coding in supports that have not yet been implemented is totally a valid option.
Each of the pairings result in different variations of the same child unit, so Iāll be covering how each variable parent affects each of the child units.

As of now with the current version of the Gay Awakening mod, Sumia is the ONLY 2ndĀ parent that can pass down Pegasus Knight to Gerome. Pairing Sumia with anyone else will ultimately take away his only chance of being a viable unit, unless you are willing to code in extra supports with other Pegasus mothers yourself (which, like I said, is totally valid).
And because Sumia is the only second parent that can give him Pegasus Knight at the moment, Sumia is objectively his best parent. No questions asked.
However, even though Sumia is his best possible second parent, there are some ups and downs to this pairing.
Chercheās stat mods clash with Sumiaās, similar to a Frederick/Sumia pairing. However, Cherche/Sumia strangely work out better than Frederick/Sumia because Chercheās mods are actually high enough to neutralize or improve Sumiaās. Sumia!Geromeās resulting mods are either good or average, but +2 STR and +3 SPD is nothing to complain about. Itās quite good actually. +3 SPD is actually Geromeās highest possible SPD modifier without a +SPD Robin.
Regardless, Sumia!Gerome is a great overall unit. His stats end up well rounded and balanced and can excel in any of the classes available to him--even magic classes since he has a +1 MAG mod (+ Tomefaire).
Thankfully, with the gender-lock removed, Sumia!Gerome can access both Galeforce andĀ Lancefaire at once. Originally, with the gender-lock+same-sex marriage, he would only be able to inherit a single skill from Sumia.
Since Gerome could become a Falcon Knight himself without the gender-lock, he can pick up Lancefaire and carry it back to Wyvern Lord so he wonāt have to give up Minerva (and making either Cherche or Gerome give up Minerva should be illegal).
On top of the benefits of the Pegasus Knight chain that Sumia grants him, he also inherits Luna from her Knight class. Luna is arguably one of the more important proc skills due to its reliability and high damage output, especially in Apotheosis.
Overall, Sumia!Gerome is the best Gerome possible, since heās the only Gerome that can get Galeforce and a Wyvern-accessible weaponfaire--and Luna on top of that. Plus, Sumia gives him flexibility to work as a magic class like Dark Flier since she grants him a positive MAG modifier.
On the other hand, Cherche!Cynthia isnāt half bad as a unit either. To be fair, thereās probably better parents for Cynthia out there since Cherche doesnāt pass down much other than Sol and Armsthrift and a better STR mod. Sheāll be able to be a Lancefaire-Wyvern like Gerome, so thatās an option. But regardless, Cherche!Cynthia is good enough for a unit, since the resulting Sumia!Gerome is the best Gerome you can get.

Olivia and Miriel is the pairing you want to do if you want the most Galeboys. This is because pairing Olivia with Miriel opens up Sumia for Cherche and Cordelia for Yarne so that Laurent, Gerome, and Yarne can all achieve Galeforce.
Olivia creates a great Laurent, anyways. +4 MAG and +3 SPD are great mods to have, with +3 SKL to boot. His offensive performance will be prime, and you wonāt be disappointed.
On top of Pegasus Knight access, he also is complete with a proc in Astra via Swordmaster. Astra is a great skill, but its low activation rate and priority make other proc skills more reliable. Regardless, Astra is still a great skill to have. The downside is that trying to get Astra on Laurent is a massive pain since heās bound to have low strength. If Astra isnāt your cup of tea, he has innate Vengeance via Dark Mage. Either one works, Vengeance is much more reliable but requires set up. Laurent does NOT want to be taking hits though, so use Vengeance carefully (which is why I lean towards Astra on Olivia!Laurent a bit more).
Olivia!Laurentās claim to fame though is his access to the almighty Vantage/Vengeance build. We all know how fearsome this build is, and with Olivia!Laurentās amazing MAG and SPD, he can pull this off quite well. However, like I said above, Laurent does not want to take hits often (especially not Olivia!Laurent) since he will often have low DEF.
So, Galeforce, a proc skill, and natural Tomefaire makes a complete Laurent. Thatās all you really need, and Olivia gives him all of that and then some. He even has Armsthrift, which is a very useful skill to have, but totally optional.
I do have to say, despite Olivia making a great Laurent, Miriel on the other hand does not result in a favorable Inigo.
Donāt get me wrong, since Laurent and Inigo will have the same exact mods as siblings, heāll still be a stellar magic unit when he reaches his caps. But, Inigoās absolute base stat in MAG is 2 and his base growth is 15%. Even with Miriel as his 2ndĀ parent, his individual MAG growth rate will be 26.67%. Because of his high cap in MAG, heāll be on par with Laurent when they hit their caps, but Miriel!Inigo needs time to grow before he can effectively use magic.

Itās actually kind of sad to say that Sumia!Laurent is superior to Olivia!Laurent for the most part. Itās sad because pairing Sumia with Miriel means Gerome will have no access to Galeforce, but Laurent misses out on a little bit of extra optimization without Sumia. For one, Laurent gets a massive +5 SPD mod and Sumiaās neutral MAG mod helps preserve Laurentās natural +4. Sumia!Laurent also has slightly higher SKL and better RES than Olivia!Laurent. However, due to the fact that Sumia gives him a -3 STR mod (compared to Oliviaās -1), pairing Sumia and Miriel will force both of their children into a magical role. Laurent wants to cast magic anyways, so this isnāt a problem at all, and it doesnāt hurt Cynthia too much either since she can make magic classes work.
Growths-wise, he isnāt too different from Olivia!Laurent. Olivia!Laurentās MAG, HP, and DEF only really have a <2% difference, higher or lower. And his RES is only about ~3% higher. These numbers are very miniscule, so the growth difference shouldnāt matter too much.
To top things off, Sumia grants him the Knight class, which leads to Luna. Luna for the most part is stronger than Astra, due to the fact that it has a much higher activation rate and higher priority.
The only thing that Olivia!Laurent has over Sumia!Laurent, though, is Vantage/Vengeance. V/V is great in Awakening due to how Enemy Phase-oriented the game is. The trade-off for Sumia!Laurentās lack of V/V is Luna, though. Either way, he ends up with really good skills.Ā
Olivia!Laurent also has Armsthrift, which Sumia!Laurent doesnāt have. Armsthrift is mainly an āif you wantā kind of skill, but it comes in handy for the late game.
Regardless, Sumia!Laurent is a fantastic unit. Galeforce and Luna is a combination to be feared with his magic and speed. Miriel is a fine mother for a magical Cynthia as well, so this is kind of a win-win pairing (except for Gerome, this is a lose-lose pairing for Gerome).

Galeforce isnāt the sole reason why Cordelia!Yarne is an insane unit, his mods combined with his class set and Galeforce make him a top tier unit.
I mean, cāmon. Look at those mods and growths.
+4 STR, +5 SKL, +6 SPD, +2 DEF? And none of his growths other than MAG and RES are under 41%? This is a murder machine weāre talking here.
And not only that, but Cordelia gives Yarne Vengeance, Sol, Armsthrift, and Lancefaire on top of Galeforce. Combined with Panneās Wyvern Rider and Axefaire, Cordelia!Yarne is more than complete as a unit.
This right here is a top tier unit from start to finish, and Galeforce thankfully gives Yarne the well-deserved right to be a lead unit on the battlefield. Thereās nothing much else to be said. Cordelia is Yarneās ideal secondĀ parent, and you should not question it. Heāll become your strongest physical Galeboy, pushing Inigo aside from his original role as the only physical Galeboy.
Everything I have said above is also applicable to the resulting Panne!Severa. These siblings are the physical powerhouse dynamic duo you never knew you needed. End of topic.

So basically, anything Olivia!Yarne can do, Cordelia!Yarne can do better.
Despite Olivia!Yarne having slightly higher growths in SKL and SPD (only by ~3%), Cordelia!Yarne has higher caps in each by 1 point, and a higher STR growth/cap as well.
However, Olivia!Yarne can pull of Hero better than Cordelia!Yarne--Iāll give him that. This is only because Olivia gives him Swordfaire, and Yarne already has innate Axefaire. So, he ends up with both relevant weaponfaires for Hero. Cordelia!Yarne can pull off Wyvern Lord better, though. This is all just boils down to a matter of preference.
Regardless, Olivia!Yarne isnāt a bad unit by any means. +3 STR, +4 SKL, and +5 SPD is still very strong, and Olivia!Yarne can still be a top tier unit on your team.
Both Galeforce-Yarnes will have Sol and Armsthift, since Cordelia has Mercenary and Olivia passes down Mercenary in place of Dancer.
Galeforce aside, Olivia!Yarne gets Astra in place of Cordelia!Yarneās Vengeance. Astra will be miles easier to achieve than Vengeance since Yarne, regardless of parentage, will always have a pitiful MAG stat. Both skills have their ups and downs. Vengeance requires set up, but Yarne has good enough DEF to maintain his HP, and Astra has low priority and activation rate but is still a very strong skill.
Whichever Galeforce-Yarne you decide that you want just boils down to whether you want Astra or Vengeance.
Inigo, on the other hand, really likes Panne as his 2ndĀ parent. Miriel kind of ruins his physical capabilities, but Panne enhances them and helps him retain his role as a physical Galeboy. Olivia!Yarne is good, but falls in comparison to Cordelia!Yarne. But Panne!Inigo is a great unit with a 2ndĀ parent that complements his strengths.
I will have to say though, pairing Olivia with Panne for Galeforce-Yarne means Gerome and Laurent have to fight for Sumia, and only one of them can get Galeforce if Olivia!Yarne exists.
~*~*~
And there you have it! Now you can find ways to make it so that all of your 2nd gen units can achieve Galeforce so that nobody is left behind, especially not our 3 formerly non-Galeboys haha.
I know this was a long guide, and if you made it to the end, thanks so much LOL.
To be 100% honest, I got a little busy so I havenāt been able to work on sprites, but Iām gonna do my best to try and finish up the last of the sprites so that I can release my mod soon! Hope you guys can stay tuned and stay patient. Gender-lock free Awakening is coming soon!
