❖ A BRIEF HISTORY OF HOUSE AVESBURY {150 AC - 300 AC} ❖
House Avesbury was once a minor vassal of House Tyrell rooted in the Reach, which had fallen into near pecuniary by the time the dragons no longer danced across the skies in 153 AC. Its sigil was a swan set upon a blue and silver backdrop, with its wings raised, reflecting the words of their House - 'With Wings We Shield'. Its antecedents usually favored names heralded by the letter 'C', clad themselves in hues of blue and silver and were known for their headstrong passionate natures and fiery tempers. Such traits would garner them notoriety through the ages. They preferred to toil the earth and had a gift for greenery, soon taking residence of a modest holdfast surrounded by a wide span of fertile soil and with a lake at its heart. At their zenith, House Avesbury's lineage would spread like vines, proving as fruitful as their orchards and acres. But House Avesbury's fortunes would come to wane and rise like the moontides. Its descendants are easily recognisable by their freckled visages, blue-grey stare and usually dark or red of hair, although there were noted exceptions such as the famed beauty, Lady Christiana Avesbury, who possessed long golden tresses often compared to the glory of the sun.
In 154 AC, Marissa Stark was sent to ward in the Reach upon her late lady mother's wishes, and would later marry into House Avesbury around 172 AC in what was seen as a mésalliance. Before they wed, her erstwhile husband was rumoured to have sired the bastard, Callista Flowers, who would become the mistress of Daemon Blackfyre in 191 AC and bear him three children, only to mysteriously disappear upon the eve of his defeat in 196 AC. Marissa's only grandchild, Corin Avesbury, seemed doomed to become the last of the Avesbury line, suffering poor health whilst dwelling amidst ruin and squalor until Lord Redwyne took the boy to ward out of misplaced pity.
Corin Avesbury would come to love and wed Lord Redwyne's spoiled daughter, Alissa Redwyne, who bore him two children, Garrett and Cordelia. Quiet and dour, Corin was unfairly accused by all of being an upstart. But with two sons to serve as heir and spare, Lord Redwyne indulgently agreed to the union, only to later regret it when his sons drowned at sea. Regardless, Corin Avesbury took the helm of the Arbor whilst his good-father buried his grief at the bottom of his best casks, Corin maintaining a steadfast course until his untimely death where he was crushed by a falling mast. His wife soon passed away afterwards from grief, leaving the young Garrett Avesbury to become Lord Redwyne in all but name.
In time, Garrett married a Hightower girl and sired three sons whilst Cordelia entered the retinue of the Lady Jena Dondarrion who treated her as a daughter, only for Cordelia to lose her exalted position when her reputation was compromised by Aerion Targaryen and forced to wed in suspicious haste. Five years later, Lord Redwyne would unexpectedly rouse himself from his drunken grief and threaten to cast his grandson asunder if Garrett did not renounce the almost extinct Avesbury title. However Garrett took much pride in his paternal House and refused to obey. But House Avesbury's fortunes were unexpectedly resurrected by Baelor Targaryen who aided in granting Garrett's petition to make House Avesbury a cadet branch of House Redwyne, the title to be inherited by Garrett's youngest son in the passage of time. His descendants would wend their way across Westeros and beyond its shores, accruing wealth and knowledge as either lord, merchant or explorer, with some accused of turning pirate at points.
Under Targaryen patronage, House Avesbury soon flourished again with the favours bestowed upon it, their coffers and crops proving rich yield. But it was said House Avesbury only enjoyed such boons due to Baelor Targaryen's unseemly fondness for Cordelia, his own nephew's wife. The suspicions raised by their relationship were enough to see Aerion and Cordelia reluctantly banished to Lys by Maekar Targaryen, along with their children. Following Aerion's death, Baelor and Cordelia would marry, with Baelor renouncing the crown on the grounds of his poor health having never been the same after his disastrous head injury sustained at the Trial of Seven.
In the wake of Robert's Rebellion, House Avesbury would be forced to bend the knee and pay almost ruinous reparations for their misplaced loyalty to House Targaryen. During the War of The Five Kings, House Avesbury would come to tear itself in two, breaking faith with the rest of the Reach by initially raising its banners for Robb Stark, their bitterness against House Baratheon still strong. After The Red Wedding, Lord Avesbury would betroth his eldest niece, Cassella, to Roose Bolton whilst her father Ser Collum denounced such treachery before recklessly declaring for Daenerys Targaryen despite her distance from Westeros's shores. Brother would swiftly turn against brother, Lord Avesbury achieving infamy by obeying Lannister orders and slaughtering Ser Collum and his four sons upon the grounds of treason. Three days before her bridal morn, Cassella Avesbury would flee for the Wall with her mother, sisters and few remaining loyal guards, seeking doubtful sanctuary...
Prince Daemon did not want children with Lady Rhea Royce, but the only thing resentment and anger create when mixed with wine is regret and problems to be ignored when they cannot suit a need. Unfortunately for him, problems cannot be ignored forever, and all three heads of the dragon he created will turn back to bite their father.

Chapter 34
Still buttoning his quilted tunic of sage colored wool, Aegon pushed past Shireen, her father, and Alicent, and dashed down the hall before disappearing around a corner. Alicent gripped Shireen's arm more tightly as Lord Boremund breathed out a chuckle and shook his head. How many countless times had he watched a half-dressed Borros run for the responsibility-less excitement of the outdoors like Prince Aegon was doing now?
From behind them Ser Crison Cole cleared his throat, and Shireen turned with Alicent to look at him. The knight's head bowed deferentially before he spoke a word, and he looked up at Alicent through long, dark lashes. "Your Grace, should I accompany the prince while he is out with Lord Royce's hunting party?"
