who starts putting up decorations in october?: oh hannah does, most def. 

who buys the advent calendars?: hannah! but she’ll buy like fun ones like for alcohol or money not just chocolate ones.

who places mistletoes all around the house?: i wanna say this is an eliot thing. just because it’s fun.

who wraps the presents for other people?: oh eliot for sure does. he gets different wrapping paper for each person and makes the nicest bows and is just so good at it???

who puts the final star/angel on the top of the christmas tree? hannah does – with eliot’s help of course. and it’s most likely something she’s taken as a souvenir from a past mark 

who’s the one that hates eggnog?: hannah! 

who’s the one that bakes christmas cookies for guests? oh my god eliot of course. he’s got like fifty different kinds for sure. 

who sends out the christmas cards?: hannah – she has nicer handwriting than eliot does. 

who knows all the words to twelve days of christmas? uhhhhhh probably neither of them (all hannah knows is the five golden rings part because…gold)

who’s the better snowman builder? eliot is! it’s all about the details. 

who starts snowball fights? oh hannah for sure but then immediately regrets her decision because eliot has an arm.

who’s the one that wakes the other on christmas morning by playing christmas songs really loudly? hannah! and eliot pretends to hate it but he lowkey loves it. 

the one where hannah wasn’t lying

“Not drinking tonight, Mrs. Abernathy?” The man asked, noticing that Hannah was holding a water glass in place of the champagne flutes that the rest of the party goers were holding. Hannah glanced down at her glass and then looked up, feigning surprise. Her gaze shifted to where Eliot was looking at her expectantly, waiting for her to come up with an excuse. 

“Ah well,” Hannah plastered an embarrassed look on her face, glancing down before looking back over at the man, “I wanted to, you know, do this in a special way but I guess now’s a good a time as any.” Hannah widened her eyes and glanced over to Eliot, “Guess who’s going to be a father?” Hannah raised her shoulders up and scrunched her face up before she nuzzled him a bit. 

“Well, we must celebrate!” The man cheered, looking excited. He looked in between the two as Eliot let out a nervous chuckle. Hannah let out a small squeal to match the man’s excitement, letting it fade as he walked away from the two of them.

Eliot stepped out of Hannah’s arm that had been around his waist, looking at her with raised eyebrows. He didn’t say anything, his mind spinning around as he tried to understand what Hannah just said, trying to figure out if the baby was his; it had been a bit since they had been together but enough time to make the baby his. Doing a double take, Hannah noticed Eliot’s expression and let out a scoff, 

“Oh my God, you look like you’re about to have an aneurysm.” Hannah looked at him with amused concern. 

“Are you seriously–”

“No.” Hannah made a face, “No, God, no.” Hannah took a swig of her water.

“Then why–” Eliot gritted out, only to have Hannah cut him off again. He was beginning to spiral and she couldn’t have him freaking out mid-op.

“Because it was the first thing that came to mind.” Hannah sighed out, “We’re married, it makes sense.” Eliot grumbled to himself, but accepted her excuse. He glanced around the ballroom before looking back to Hannah,

“So why are you drinking water? Is everything okay?” Eliot lowly asked, looking concerned. If Hannah wasn’t on her A game, they were screwed. 

“Yes, gawd, I just have a UTI.” Hannah simply explained, tiring of Eliot’s questions. Eliot made a disgusted face, not wanting to hear anymore about Hannah’s UTI. Hannah laughed lightly, raising her glass to cover her smile. 

“Alright, well, I’m gonna–just–yeah.” Eliot stepped away from Hannah, going over to where the man was getting their celebratory drinks.
