He was ʜᴜʀᴛɪɴɢ, which made her ache inside too. How could it not? If they could, every loving mother would take the pαιɴ in place of their child. Instinctively, she shifted close to rest her cheek against his hair, a hand rubbing his back the way she used to when he was younger and still wanted her to be there as he drifted off to sleep.

The recent events that had ᴾᴸᴬᴳᵁᴱᴰ their family had inevitably left their mark on her son. ɪᴛ ᴡᴀsɴ’ᴛ ғᴀɪʀ, not for him. Jon was still so young, and already the carefree ɪɴɴᴏᴄᴇɴᴄᴇ that he should’ve enjoyed for at least a number of years was all but a distant memory left behind in Hamilton County. 

“…n…no???” Not that Tim didn’t want to be. For once, Tim was really regretting waffling on the cowl design of his Red Robin costume. The domino did nothing to hide the way his entire face lit up bright red like a stoplight.

“Krypto!” Clark got up from the desk in the home office,following Jon’s voice to the living room. “Come on, that’s not food, boy.” Heknelt down before the Super dog, reaching for the crumpled paper between histeeth. Krypto refused to budge, and Clark sped to the kitchen and back holdinga treat. “You want this?” Krypto wagged his tail, dropping the paper andchomping down eagerly on the biscuit. Clark unfolded the slobbery homework,shaking his head. “I don’t know if you want to turn this in, son.”
