Future Thieves: Sucker

Future Thieves’ (independent/unsigned) 2016 debut Horizon Line blended early-00s Alt Rock and modern Country so well that you could have known they were from Nashville without so much as a word to Google or Siri. Their ability to blend in Pop (“The Floor”) and Indie (“Liar”) while staying true to their sound helped them stand above a crowded field, but no one could have guessed that they would have jumped head-first so deeply into those influences for their self-titled sophomore release.

But that’s alright cause we’re releasing new music, and it’s an exciting time for us. We’ve been working on our new self-titled, full-length record for the last year, and it’s finally time for everyone to get a listen!

We released our first single “Dark Spin” on June 1st and are set to release two more singles before the album drops September 7. Thanks to everyone that’s listened so far and keep your eyes and ears out for more.

Anyway, let’s need out. With summer comes tons of fun for me. I grew up on a farm in eastern Kentucky. Some of you who follow us may have seen some pictures of the farm when we occasionally write there.

For those of you who haven’t, it can be described as isolated bliss. No address, at the end of a long one lane road. Growing up we’d raise our own horses and bail our own hay. Another thing we would always do is plant a garden. Tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and tons more.  Getting to do that was always a refreshing and enlightening experience. Getting to see something so beautiful and nutritious grow from just a seed.

Well, I’ve taken what I learned there and applied it every summer since. Recently we built two large raised bed gardens and a small one for herbs. We have tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, squash and zucchini, basil, thyme, rosemary, sage, cilantro, dill and many more. I love fresh food, all of us in the band do as seen on our Tumblr where our producer Alex Jarvis and I cook up some delicious stuff for the band while we go on writing trips.

Gardening is something I love nerding out on every year. So in celebration of the 116 days of summer here are some pics of our home garden 🙂
