Although it doesn't look very pretty, the Twisted Futo Maki Roll is both tasty and visually appealing. It has smoked salmon, avocado, cucumber, and spicy mayo, all wrapped in sushi rice and nori.
Ingredients: 4 nori seaweed sheets. 2 cups sushi rice, cooked. 4 slices smoked salmon. 1 avocado, sliced. 1 cucumber, julienned. 4 tbsp spicy mayo. 2 tbsp black sesame seeds.
Instructions: Place a sushi mat made of bamboo on a clean surface. Lay a nori sheet on the mat with the shiny side down. Leave an inch of space at the top of the nori and spread a thin layer of sushi rice over it. In the middle of the rice, line up slices of smoked salmon, avocado, and cucumber. Add 1 tablespoon of spicy mayo to the filling and spread it out. Add black sesame seeds on top. Start at the bottom edge of the bamboo mat and roll up the sushi tightly. To seal the roll, press down hard. Do it again with the rest of the ingredients. With a sharp knife, cut each roll into six pieces, making sure to clean the blade between cuts. Soy sauce, pickled ginger, and wasabi should be served with it.
