Rielle: It's like every time I use my powers an angel grows it's wings 🥰🤭
Audric: No. No. Rielle no, they're an enemy army, stop giving them advantage, Rielle, please stop.

What did you think of the book Furyborn? Sorry for asking but I couldn’t find a review
You don’t need to apologize! It’s been a few years, but coincidentally I was just talking about the series a few weeks ago so it’s fresher in my mind than it otherwise would be.
Generally I found the book, and the series, pretty irredeemably bad! The primary issue was that the author was just incapable of selling literally any aspect of the story? There isn’t a single moment of emotional sincerity through the entire series; none of the characters acted like real human beings; neither the plot, the setting, or the premise made any sense! And this all only got worse with each installment in the trilogy.
There is a thousand years between Rielle and Eliana’s POVs and somehow things looked basically the same. The world did not seem to have changed at all beyond the existence of an evil angel empire. Eliana herself was transparently an Aelin/Celaena ToG rip off with all of the same contradictions that make Aelin a character that collapses under her own Mary Sue-ness. Rielle’s only character trait meanwhile was intense entitlement! That her plotline made me sit through a one woman Hunger Games sequence that went on for the ENTIRE BOOK where there is never once the glimmer of a possibility that she may not succeed killed any good will I may have otherwise mustered up for her. At least the Eliana plot made some pretenses of variety!
The prose was horrible. Corien was like a weird Phantom of the Opera and Darkling amalgam with zero gravitas or comprehensible personality. Audric (I think? Whatever Rielle’s boyfriend’s name was) only existed to be a devoted wet mop. Ludivine is probably a top ten most annoying character ever to me. I cannot believe hardly anyone gave a shit about her being an angel who was like puppeting their dead friend’s corpse for years on end without telling anyone just because she “loved” Audric and Rielle so much and wanted to be close to them.
Which is all to say that I did not enjoy Furyborn! I found it cartoonish and tedious and terrible!
Every multiple pov book has that character whose chapters you just have to suffer through
Im looking at you, Navi and Audric
Furyborn is a sprawling, epic fantasy duology with two timelines, following Rielle, a young woman destined to wield the Sun Queen’s magic, and Eliana, centuries later, inheriting a legacy full of betrayal, secrets, and power struggles. This story is a mix of prophecy, romance, and rebellion in a richly imagined world.
Legrand’s writing is cinematic, painting vivid landscapes of deserts, towers, and palaces while threading complex political plots. The stakes are enormous: kingdoms rise and fall, magic is deadly, and love and loyalty are constantly tested. Both protagonists are compelling — flawed, strong, and determined — and the dual timeline allows readers to see how choices echo across generations.
The pacing blends action, intrigue, and emotional beats with some slower, reflective moments that deepen character development. Themes of power, sacrifice, and destiny weave through every chapter, making the story feel both epic and personal.
Overall: Furyborn is perfect for fans of ACOTAR or Crescent City who love layered fantasy worlds, morally gray heroes, and high-stakes, multi-generational storytelling.
Rating: 4.25 out of 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫

the worst part of the empirium series is the fact that not many people on tumblr talk about it
how am i supposed to bitch about the books to NO ONE ;~;
just finished the Empirium Series by Claire Legrand and LET ME JUST SAY. i have so many feelings
what am i supposed to do now that it's over??? (as if i don't have a million other things to read.
i have one major complaint that I'm going to air out, read at ur own risk <3 it may not make sense but i AM passionate about it so
I want to write little notes in my books and highlight quotes I like and write my thoughts while I read. it would be fun and it would give my bookcase personality.
I'm just nervous that if I do it, and regret it, I will have ruined the book and have to spend money to replace them.
