The light fury from "how to train your dragon:the hidden world" (2019)
I distinctly remember saying I don't believe Toothless should be considered furbait, because even though he's popular fandom-wise, I don't consider him furry, in a way. Some would say he's not a furry because he's got scales, and they'd be wrong. I considered him not furry, because at the time, he was just an intelligent pet at most. However, introducing the light fury changes Toothless from existing as a non-sexed beast to now having an air of potential sex added.
Yikes, Hazel. Hating women enough to not even talk about the design of the obviously female dragon the series introduced for a whole paragraph. They tried to give her characteristics that make her her own kind of being. However, she is inescapable of discussion without the fact that she is quite literally a sex symbol in the universe of the Dragons. I mean this to say that once they started taking the design of Toothless and all night furies for example, then change the features to be softer, lighter, cleaner, and more feminine, then they've introduced a gender discrepancy between the two. These discrepancies show the storytellers' (and perhaps Dreamworks' executives') views on gender. There's no night fury to my knowledge introduced to Toothless as a partner, but the light fury is. The oddest thing is how puritanical the wider society of the internet has become that discussing the fact that adding a character based on gender ideals is grounds for sounding like someone who is lonely and depressed by their own making. Instead, we're not able to talk about how genuinely fascinating as someone who sees themselves outside heteronormotive and cisgender standards, this approach is. It may be a kids movie, but I do know that there is a mating dance that Toothless attempts and fails. He is expected to court the pretty dragon. That's not a surprise, is it? It's fascinating that we still exist in a world where there is no room for anyone to happily exist in solitude with a companion. Instead, Toothless is now confirmed to have children with this light fury.
The Light Fury that has no name is furbait in the fact that she is designed to draw the fans in. She creates a means for Toothless to have sex. She does the impossible by turning a character who isn't furbait into a pairing that is.
