Last night was the very first time I dreamt about being a mom.
I adore childrenâŚand I would like to believe that I am good with them. But, I have never imagined being a mommy, the kind that drove kids to school, made lunches, slaved in the kitchen. I always thought of being like my mom - fabulous, made-up, working. Admittedly, my mom does all the domestic duties on weekends. I have seen her cook, clean, sow, gardenâŚyou name it, she probably has done it for us. I havenât gotten to that point of doing all of that just because.
In my dream, I woke up and was handed a baby boy, and I felt that clichĂŠ: you donât know how much you are capable of loving until you have a child of your own. I didnât have a husband beside me, but, I was proud to show off my baby to my familyâŚand immediately, I could feel that they too, have fallen in love with my child.
I donât know what this means. Maybe itâs hormones, maybe itâs because I just had my periodâŚbut, when I woke up, I had this unfamiliar feeling of looking forward to being a mom.
I think my body clock is telling me that if I want that child in my life, I better get a move on đ¤
