Good morning! Recently there have been difficulties at work and it's been shut down until January 3. My roomate and I are desperate and trying to scramble what we can to survive. My home city of Karachi is facing severe urban flooding.
The entire city is submerged, especially the poorer working communities have been the most affected. Due to illegal demolitions that were carried out in the past year in some of the poorer neighbourhoods, the homes there are also at risk of landsliding, and therefore around a 1000 people need to be immediately evacuated from their homes otherwise we fear significant loss of life.
The water has already flooded many people's homes there because of the continuous rains in the past 12 hours and more monsoon rains are in the forecast for the next few days.
There are some urgent and pressing needs including providing food to the most vulnerable communities, formulating an evacuation plan, including finding shelter for the most affected families, and working on the protective structures to hold water back in the case of more rains.
All this requires funds. If anyone has any spare change, I would appreciate throwing a few dollars/pounds/euros here. I work with these communities and can vouch for any information, corroborate anything with video evidence.
