Interested in joining an FFL team for the upcoming season?

The season dates have been pushed back by 2 weeks to ensure everyone gets their #FFLRANKER scores submitted! 

If you’ve already got a team planned but need an extra athlete or 2, take a look at the gym roster on the FFL Base OR the FFL Ranker leaderboard to scout some other RAthletes who are similar level to your team.

Join the #athletes-ffl channel in slack and post if you’re looking for a team, or a team captain in need of some more athletes! 

Make sure you get your ranker workouts completed and scores submitted ASAP! 

INTERESTED IN JOINING AN FFL TEAM?

The Functional Fitness League is like ‘beer league’ for your favorite sport! This season includes 3 matches (1 every 2 weeks) that have 3 workouts (done by 4/6 athletes on a team - so you don’t have to do them all!), followed by a single day playoffs.

We've had some injuries & drops & are in need of a few more athletes (of a variety of levels) to join our FFL teams!

Match Dates:

Feb 23 (this sunday) March 8th March 29th Playoffs: April 19 (all day) We're looking for:

1-2 Men to join our Div II / Rx team: Anna B, Sarah M, Eva T, Rachal P, Dodge L, Owen R - Division II is basically 'Rx' so if you can complete all class workouts Rx you're good to go (level 5 ok too). 1-2 Men & Women to join our Div III / Scaled team: Luke F, Lachlan P, Julie R, Bara V, Cyrena M

This is open to anyone on an [FF] membership @ Raincity - whether you’re interested in or planning on taking part in the Functional Fitness League season or not! 

You’ll be able to reserve your spot / register just like the #RAINCITYOPEN Classes :) 7PM start! Thor will probably bring earnest ice cream and/or beer.

For anyone interested in taking part in the upcoming Functional Fitness League season - you must first complete the RANKER workouts! For those not sure if they’re interested - come throw down with your crew anyways :)

If you don’t already have a team planned, submitting an #FFLRANKER score will be like adding yourself to the affiliate roster of eligible athletes that will help ensure you get drafted on an appropriate level team! 

Remember, if you cannot make it to our event but want to take part in the upcoming FFL season; you can do these workouts anytime during open gym!

THE WORKOUTS

Event #1: Max Lift

Prescribed: ⁠⁠ 1x Power Clean ⁠ 2x Hang Squat Cleans ⁠ 1x Jerk ⁠ ⁠ Scaled: ⁠ 2x Hang Power Cleans⁠ 1x Jerk⁠

Score: Heaviest successful lift 

Event #2: Gymnasty Cardio

With a 4 minute running clock the athlete must complete:⁠ ⁠ A single set for max reps of unbroken...⁠ ⁠ Prescribed: Chest to Bar Pullups⁠ Intermediate: Chin over bar Pullups⁠ Scaled: Band Assisted Chin Over bar Pullups ⁠ Straight into...⁠ ⁠ Max Calorie Assault Bike in the remaining time.

Score (2 events): 2A: Unbroken Gymnastics reps ⁠ 2B: Total pullups + total calories⁠

Event #3: Classic Couplet

For time, 10 minute cap: ⁠ ⁠ Prescribed:⁠⁠ 21-15-9 Reps ⁠ Dual Dumbbell Thruster (50/35lb)⁠ Burpee Box Jumps (24/20")

Intermediate:⁠ 21-15-9 Reps:⁠ Single Arm Dumbbell Thruster (50/35lb)⁠ Burpee Box Jump or Step Up (24/20") ⁠

The FFL is like ‘beer league CrossFit’ and is great for athletes of any level! You’ll need a team of 6-8 athletes (mix of guys and girls) that are all of a similar level.

SOLO ATHLETES CAN SUBMIT STATS HERE (and we’ll try to help you find a team!)
