Here are the steps:

1. Gather popsicle sticks, paint, wire cutters, and wood glue.

2. Cut 5 sticks 7 cm and 4 sticks 4.7 cm (make sure to remove the round tops and bottoms first)

3. Paint!

4. Glue 3 long sticks together side by side.

5. Glue one of the sides of the back wall you created. Add the side wall.

6. Take the small sticks and glue the back side and the 2 short sides of the stick.

7. Add the final side to the shelf.

8. Allow the glue to dry.

There you go! Its okay if the shelf is uneven, borrowers don't mind!

“Marble Painting”

Before I left for California, I tried out a fun painting technique I’ve never tried before: marble painting.  Now it’s not marbleized painting like I do with pouring medium but in fact painting with marbles.  I know it sounds kind of silly but it was a fun and easy project to do in an afternoon.

I bought a bag of marbles from the dollar store recently just for this project.  I also got a bunch of oval canvas panels at the same time.  I painted one with a dark background to start.  Then I poured some fluid paint into a small cup along with a marble.  I swirled it around to get the marble fully coated and then tipped it onto the canvas.  I created a border around the canvas with masking tape so that way I could contain the marble as I moved the canvas around.
