3. If they complimented each other, what would they say?

hmm Dazai really admires Fukuzawa’s strength and fortitude, as well as the way he takes care of his employees (contrasted with Mori, who gave no fucks) i don’t think he’d ever say that, but he does get very….mushy when Fukuzawa is caring towards him, and that’s a compliment in itself. 

Fukuzawa likes how smart Dazai is, how he’s suspicious and clever and plans for the future. how he doesn’t trust anyone but trusts Fukuzawa - that’s immensely satisfying to him, to be the one person Dazai lets himself go around. 

I don’t think they’d ever say that to each other in so many words, though.
