@fcknzombies asked “If you think that I’m scared, you’ve got me wrong.”
Ellis doesn't have to think too hard to know he doesn't have Nick wrong about this. The two of them watching from the safe room window into the streets. Outside it's storming something horrible, the wind howling so loud Ellis can feel it in his bones. He stares for a long minute at Nick's profile. There's so much to be scared of now, and if Ellis was a braver man he would admit it to Nick he was actually terrified. He tried to play it off, tried to focus on finding help and an Evac station, but deep down-- he was worried that this was going to be the rest of their lives, on the run hopping that something finally, finally, worked out for them. He missed his ma, and his friends, it's been a life time between now and when he last saw them. He takes of his hat, his fingers running through his hair as he leans back against the safe house walls. "I dunno. Yew thinkin' it's a bad thing to maybe admit that this is kinda-- I dunno one for the books I would say. If yew admit yer scared, I'll say I am too. I'm startin' to think maybe..." His voice is soft as it trails off. "Yew think this is gonna end?"
