Halona’s always had a knack for umbras. Summoning them takes almost no effort or thought and since I’m more limited in my media with her, I always imagined she can flow through forms easily and smoothly.

That said, making completely new ones usually takes time. She has to learn what she’s imitating. She has to get a good feel of what they are. Animals and monsters are easy. Fight a hellion once or twice, ride and feed rhinos for a couple days, live with someone with wings. Something like the new treefolk umbra from Modern Horizons would probably take her a bit more time, but not an impossible amount. To her, its just as empathetic as it is academic to figure something out before she can make the umbra of it with any skill.

So, Wimpod are an interesting case. In the wild, Wimpod love small cave systems that are roughly the size of their bodies with little wiggle room. Scuttling through these caves means they brush against the rock, which naturally cleans their plated backs by knocking the dirt and grime off, and once they go back around the other way, they eat it up like a little vaccuum!

Domestic Wimpod don’t usually have this luxury outside of habitats, so you should try and cover your Wimpod with a thick towel, about the size of it’s own body. This will keep them calm, as it replicates the dark and makes them feel safe. Then you just gently clean their plates with a fine brush, and afterwards your little buddy can gobble up all the stuff you brush out!
