Hey everyone! Today, we're excited to invite you #BuildFrontback with us. #BuildFrontback is the opportunity for you to take our logo, and make it your own!

So much of Frontback is our community. Each day, people from all over the world share their different backgrounds, cultures and stories with us. It's these unique vantage points that make up who we are at Frontback.

#BuildFrontback is your invitation to celebrate the idea that Frontback and community go hand in hand. We want you to creatively construct our logo in a way that is personal to you. You can draw it. Paint it. Make it with flowers, sand or food! The only limit is your imagination!

Each logo will be unique, as each community member is unique in their contribution to Frontback.

If you want to take a peek at the whole project, we’ll be trending the hashtag #BuildFrontback in our Explore menu. At the end of the week, we'll pick 3 of the most creative members for prizes.

The competition begins Wednesday (1/21) and ends this Sunday (1/25) at 11:00 PM PST.

What is it?

#TheSmileProject is a community challenge inspired by the idea that smiles are contagious.

At Frontback, we believe an abundance of these contagious smiles can break down borders and turn strangers into friends. Over time, many of you have gotten to know someone from across the globe on Frontback.

What we want to do is collectively join hands and provide you with some inspiration on moments that will spread smiles through our community and around the world.

Introduce yourself to @FrontbackPanda and the rest of #TheSmileProject community by this Sunday, December 21st. Use the hashtag #HelloMyNameIs and mention @FrontbackPanda.

From Monday, December 22nd to Sunday December 28th, we will provide you with a list of daily challenges to accomplish (see below). Make sure to hashtag #TheSmileProject on your photos and that day’s hashtag.  Example: For the introduction hashtag, you’ll want to use #TheSmileProject and #HelloMyNameIs

Win a bag of swag! or an iPhone 6! Each day, our Staff will choose winners based on who captures the best moment from that day’s challenge. Winners will receive Frontback gear, including t-shirts, stickers and other surprises. At the end of the week, we’ll announce one winner who will receive a bag of Frontback swag and a new iPhone 6!

#ThisCity - Show us something that you love about the city in which you are staying. This could be anything… your favorite street, coffee shop, restaurant, bridge, sculpture. Anything about the city you are in that makes you smile!

Tuesday, December 23rd:

#TryIt - Try a new food today. It could be one that you've been scared to try or something you’ve been curious about!

Wednesday, December 24th:

#LetterToSanta - Write an open letter to Santa. Include at least 1 thing you would like for Christmas. The list can be as long as you would like!

Thursday, December 25th:

#PassItForward - This holiday do something that makes someone else smile. There are many ways pass it forward. It can be a random act of kindness or giving a stranger a helping hand. Most importantly, do something special for someone in need of a smile.

Friday, December 26th:

#TheMoreYouKnow - Today, learn something new. Take a Frontback of what you learned and share the knowledge!

Saturday,  December 27th:

#30MinutesMove - No matter what the form exercise, get yourself moving for 30 minutes. Walk, jog, run, yoga, crossfit, soccer… get out and go play!

Sunday, December 28th:

#GoForIt - Do something that you've been wanting to do, but you haven’t had the chance to do. The only limitation here is your imagination. Meet a stranger. Paint something. Whatever you choose, the outcome should be a smile!

Hey Community! 

Today, I want to invite you to create your own challenges on Frontback. You may have seen some of the ones we’ve done in the past, like #moneyface, #emojichallenge, #fingerface, or #beforeandafter. Here’s how you can create your own:

1. Create a Frontback that either illustrates the idea or gives us the details on the challenge

2. Create your own hashtag for the challenge and ALSO post it with the hashtag #FrontbackChallenge.

 We try to keep our hashtags short, but long enough to understand.

Here are a couple examples:  #whereIstand - take a photo of your shoes and views  #whereiwork - take a photo of you and where you work #emojichallenge - copy your favorite emoji!

Today, we are so excited to introduce you to one of our most creative Frontback Community members, Ria Sim. If you haven’t seen it already, you’ll want to check out her incredible food art.

Earlier, she told us that it is easier than it looks, but don’t be fooled by her modesty ;). Ria’s talent is undeniable, and we’re thrilled that she’s given us a couple tips and tricks to her food art.

But first, a little bit about @ riasim..

Ria’s worked in the design industry for nearly 10 years. She began by starting an event planning company which led her into the artistic world of floral design. Her success in business lead to doing monthly floral TV segments for ABC 7/ KGO SF, monthly floral design events at Country Clubs around the Bay Area and speaking opportunities in San Francisco.

Having accrued this incredible talent, we’re hoping that before the next holiday, Ria will let Team Frontback and the community in on some more how to’s!

Ria attributes her creativity to her two boys. While she’s always had a creative sense, being a mother allowed her to find creativity in preparing meals and art projects. When it comes to objects, she’s learned to see past things for what they are and alternatively see’s what they can be. You’ll find that in many of her photos.

We’re so glad that her son @ andrewp introduced her to Frontback. You’ll find that he also has the creative stroke of his mother!

So without having to wait any longer, here are some tips from Ria: 

1. The first step in Food Art is seeing an object for more than what it is. A quick example of this is most people see bread, tortillas, flat breads as just food, but try to reimagine its use case. It's a solid flat sheet,  which means it can be a base for everything from facial features, animal forms, feet/hands, to simple shapes such as hearts and stars.

2. Vegetables are key for a couple reasons: they are colorful, easy to cut and because the shapes are naturally unique. It can add character to your food art.

3. Dry fruits (raisins, apricots, mangos) are perfect to use for eyes, lips, and flowers. Dry fruits keep their shape and are very easy to mold into your creation.

4. Peanut butter, jelly, Nutella, frosting are all great tools to hold things in place. It's like sweet "glue".  And it’s definitely a glue worth eating ;-)

5. Peppercorns, oatmeal, walnuts/nuts, granola - keep these in mind for texturing and highlights.

6. If you create  food art, make sure you photograph it as soon as you're done with your creation. With anything perishable it will lose its shapes the longer it is exposed to air. Breads shrink, and curl, veggies wilt, and any spreads used can start to melt or dry out.

Tell us about The Son of Man food project:

My inspiration was watching the old movie, The Thomas Crown Affair. I’ve always been intrigued with the bowler hat man painting. And stumbling upon the movie triggered my creativity to reproduce it.

BornLucky - Her post are a random surprise. She has a good eye in capturing the moment. I always look forward to seeing what she posts.

Karbonbased - His posts are contemporary and stylish. From a viewers perspective his pictures takes you along his adventure. Amazing!

Himesora - Well what can I say...? There's only "1" @himesora and I love her!!

J4v0 - Love his "simple" posts. The pictures just speaks for itself. Often times less is more. I look forward to his posts.
