March 12. Lunch. Eating like itβs the end of the world. Used my work-from-home as an opportunity to pick up a loose meat hamburger (Maid Rite-style), a Frito Pie and a bottle of a Coke from JTβs Genuine Sandwich Shop. This Frito Pie Burger on Jalapeno Cheddar Buns is a tasty take on the classic burger. It has the tastes of a Frito pie and a juicy burger, all between spicy Jalapeno Cheddar buns.
Ingredients: 1 lb ground beef. 1/2 cup crushed Fritos. 1/4 cup diced onions. 1/4 cup diced jalapenos. 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese. Salt and pepper to taste. 4 Jalapeno Cheddar buns, split and toasted. 4 slices cheddar cheese. 1 cup Fritos for topping. 1/4 cup diced tomatoes for topping. 1/4 cup diced onions for topping. 1/4 cup diced jalapenos for topping. 1/4 cup sour cream for topping. Fresh cilantro for garnish.
Instructions: In a bowl, combine ground beef, crushed Fritos, diced onions, diced jalapenos, shredded cheddar cheese, salt, and pepper. Mix well. Form the mixture into 4 burger patties. Preheat grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until desired doneness is reached. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and allow it to melt. Assemble the burgers on toasted Jalapeno Cheddar buns. Top each patty with additional Fritos, diced tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, sour cream, and garnish with fresh cilantro. Serve immediately and enjoy!
