Fortnight Frights Readathon
There are many Halloween-themed readathons happening. Fortnight Frights is hosted by The Artisan Geek. It is from Oct 18 to 31. A way to participate in many readathons at once is to pick books that can be read for multiple readathons.
Here is my list for Fortnight Frights.
1. An undead creature - Fledgling by Octavia E. Butler
2. Written by a mainland European – The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas
3. Written by an Author from Asia – The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco
4. A piece of dark fantasy – Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
5. With or by a disability character/author – Black Girl Unlimited by Echo Brown
6. A Poem – The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe
7. A Translated Piece – Inferno by Dante Alighieri
8. Written by an indigenous author – Green Grass, Running Water by Thomas King
9. Written by a Latinx author – The Beautiful Ones by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
10. Written before 1960 – Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
11. A Horror Comic – Death Note by Tsugumi Ohba & Takeshi Obata
12. Book with a green cover – Frankenstein in Baghdad by Ahmed Sandawi
13. A Short Story – Broken Stars edited by Ken Liu
14. A Gothic Novel by POC – Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
15. Written by an LGBTQ author – The Death of Vivek Oji by Akwaeke Emezi
16. Written by a Black/African author – Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison
I am already reading Fledgling, Black Girl Unlimited, The Death of Vivek Oji, and Song of Solomon for the Black SFF Readathon, and I am reading Wuthering Heights for Victober, plus the books on my own personal reading schedule.
As a slow reader compared to many on booktube, I don’t anticipate reading all the books on the list in October. The fun is in picking out the books, then secretly extending the readathon far into the future, so there is more time to read all the books.
