For years, I compared myself to people I admired. People who seemed to be doing everything I dreamed of doing β writing, speaking, traveling the world and using their gifts to make a real contribution to others. . If youβve ever done this, you know how truly miserable it feels. I imagined the βsuccessfulβ people had all these resources that I didnβt. . Things like more money, all the right connections, an ability to focus that just wasnβt a part of my ADD-ish brain and some light-filled office filled with a team of dedicated geniuses buzzing around. . Thankfully, I had a much needed wake-up call. . Once I stopped wasting time and energy getting sucked into what I now call βcomparison hangoversβ and I started taking consistent action, I realized something monumental. . Every one of my assumptions about what βsuccessfulβ people had that I didnβt were total B.S. . I was making up excuses. And pretty lame excuses at that. . The truth was, I was afraid that I wasnβt good enough. That I didnβt have anything unique to say. That people would judge me, criticize me and call me a fraud. I had piles of limiting beliefs about myself, my capabilities and my worth as a human being. . But the TRUTH was actually this: I already had everything I needed to turn my life around. . On the most basic level I had food, running water and a roof over my head. Something that billions of other humans still donβt have. Most importantly: I had β€οΈ HEART I had β€οΈ HUNGER I had the willingness to commit to a higher standard of living, to learn new things, to work hard and never give up. . I believe you have that too. In fact, I know with every fiber of my being that... . . You absolutely have the ability to actualize your deepest and truest potential. Doesnβt matter how much time, money, experience, or anything else that you might feel you lack β you were born with everything you need to reach your highest creative possibility. . But what holds most of us back are excuses. Excuses about why other people can do things, but we canβt. Excuses are limiting but theyβre also destructive. .
