Okay, so this has been in my ask box for a while now, but this isn’t my first time answering it (Tumblr sucks, ngl). Here’s hoping this works out better!

You are correct in your assertion nonnie, that that is definitely red hair. 

If G has blonde and Zayn’s hair is a dark brown/black... how is it possible that “they” have a red headed baby?

Quick Biology lesson

(Quick preface, I am in no sense a biologist and don’t claim to be. This is based off some very quick research I have done on the internet, and I am open to hearing any and all information from people who actually have some sort of experience within this field. I also highly encourage people to do their own research and come to their own conclusions, this is just me coming to mine)

Genes carry the information that determine your biological traits - features like hair and eye colour that are passed down to your from your parents. We receive these genes through chromosomes.

Now, here’s where it gets interesting. Obviously not all the traits we receive from our parents are identical (that would be really fucking weird if that were the case... just saying), so what helps to decide the hair colour of the baby with, in a completely hypothetical situation, a mother with blonde hair and a ‘father’ with dark brown hair?

Well, some genes are what we call dominant, and others are referred to as recessive. Here’s a quick chart that outlines this phenomena (in terms of hair colour):

Now, as you can see, brown hair is a dominant gene. Meaning that when passed onto a baby with another gene that isn’t, that baby is more likely to present with brown hair. 

As it shows in the graph, it is possible for a father with brown/black hair and a mother with blonde hair to produce a red headed baby... if there is evidence of red hair within either one of the parents’ families, because you can carry down genes without actually presenting them.

Here’s the thing, it doesn’t show up in G’s:

And Zayn’s family certainly doesn’t show that ginger trait:

So as you can see, neither G’s nor Zayn’s families show the red headed trait, meaning that the likelihood of a blonde mother and a brunette father producing a red headed baby is extremely low, especially since both of their sides clearly carry the dominant brown hair gene, and none of their siblings present with that red headed gene, making it even less likely to be the case.

So to respond to you’re assertion nonnie, maybe... and I’m just spit balling here... that what people assume to be the father of the baby isn’t actually the baby’s father... Just saying.
