I have a headcanon where the most important thing in Dante's life is Vergil (based on the entire story of the game, the novel and the manga) and that after being trapped together in hell following the events of Devil May Cry 5 Dante was just as attached to Vergil as he had been when they were children (before what happened to Eve), nut I feel like he would cling to him with insecurity and uncertainty about whether Vergil would leave again (losing him three times and believing him dead those same three times leaves a mark of some kind, doesn't it?) and I feel that Vergil would notice it within a few days (between battles and taking down hordes of demons, having his moments of calm, sitting down briefly to rest and on some occasions talking) Vergil (despite his limited interaction with people over the years and his limited or nonexistent ability to interpret the emotions of others, he is able to interpret Dante and recognize that something is wrong with him) he doesn't know how to approach it but does what he does best (using complex terms to express himself, briefly recounting an anecdote) while Dante tries to pretend to be okay with his usual humor and sarcastically, noticing (and being slightly surprised) by his brother's unusual closeness, feeling both good and bad at the same time because he still doubts, but Vergil's quiet perseverance in searching for the The problem makes Dante doubt even more because of his septicism; between breaks Dante fall asleep on Vergil's shoulder, who is sitting with his back against a stone, Vergil looks at Dante, he moves a lock of hair, pushing it aside and leaving it behind him ear, and stares at him, wondering what's bothering his little brother so much.
