Cabaret — Fred Ebb and John Kander
Into The Woods — Stephen Sondheim and book James Lapine
after the garbage that is the 2026 film that came out this month (and im still keeping up with the book rn), i kept wondering what a wuthering heights musical would've looked like in the 80s/90s:
catherine earnshaw is played by patti lupone (potential actors: bebe neuwirth, bernadette peters, marin mazzie, kim crosby, joanna gleeson, pamela winslow, etc)
may be written by either sondheim & lapine or ebb & kander & mcnally or marsha norman or... andrew lloyd webber
ben wright or robert sean leonard are definitely playing linton heathcliff in act 2
barbara byrne, merle louise or angela lansbury is playing nelly dean
edgar linton is played by mandy patinkin (and so are robert westenberg, david hyde pierce, etc)
y'all can help me decide in the comments or reblogs
the absolute fervor and passion with which herr schultz sings the word "mine" in tomorrow belongs to me is actually horrific. you can hear him above everyone else.

Looks like there are some Cabaret fans here, so I found my programme of Roundabout Theatre Company's production I saw many years ago.
This Broadway revival was was based on the 1993 London production, directed by Sam Mendes, and performed at Club 54!
The main cast were:
Alan Cumming as the Emcee
Natasha Richardson as Sally Bowles
John Benjamin Hickey as Cliff Bradshaw
Mary Louise Wilson as Fräulein Schneider
Ron Rifkin as Herr Schultz
