dude I need to listen to more daisy the great WOW. I’d only really heard the record player song before but these were really really good! Even without my rusa bias making me be like wow this is so tragic this is THEM these are also just really really good songs oh my gosh.

What an insanely good connection to ruby, like yeah this is IT. It’s all of his hesitance and avoidance and how he exhausts himself trying to create that distance. It’s also incredibly grounded in how strong the emotions of the song is but it also recognises how internal and highschool all of it is, like yeah you’re 14 you have big feelings but that doesn’t mean you’re actually evil.

This one especially gets me like wow. Yeah. moot you’re insane this is so perfect. Nothing gets me like a ruby “im scared of what i want” AHGRHGH.

This one is also so so so great for sapphire. Her complacency in the story becomes almost ridiculous for how headstrong she is and I choose to see it as a manifestation of guilt but also at the same time im like jesus kusaka let her have her revenge!!! So this just works so incredibly well as a representation of her exhaustion.

I’m a big defender of “ruby’s characterisation in oras makes sense and is NOT character regression” but at the same time it’s really really sad to see sapph wronged so much, not even from a narrative standpoint but just. In general??? It becomes almost comical. And I feel like this really encapsulates that feeling

There’s also a little bit of hopefulness in it though :) I love you sapph I hope you can heal (won’t happen. not in a million years. I can pretend though.)
