Frank H. Netter (1906 – 1991) was an American surgeon and celebrated medical illustrator. Since 1957, Netter produced nearly 4,000 illustrations, which have been included in countless publications. In perspective, that number represents an image researched, sketched, and completely painted for every three business days for over 50 years. His Atlas of Human Anatomy and other atlases have become a staple of medical education. Netter painted other work aside from his medical illustrations, and some of it resembles an almost twisted version of Norman Rockwell. We just received a few framed Netter prints which date back to 1947. These were available from Chicago's Armour Laboratories and were only offered to doctors (for their waiting rooms, I'm guessing). They were never offered for sale to the general public, making them rather rare as far as these things go. This one is "Catastrophe" 13x9.5 framed.
