I don't write or post often on Tumblr, but I need to vent SO MUCH ! I've heard a lot about Guillermo Del Toro's Frankenstein. I've seen so many gifs, so many praises on the photography, the lights, the costums... And I really believed that I was going on a good ride when I finally decided to watch it. And I can't tell you all how much disappointed I am. I don't even know where to start. Where are all the strong female characters ? Where are the feminine role models of the creature? Why so much drama around the love story? And don't get me started on the forgivness bullshit in the end, erasing the whole point of the story. And even then. Even after all that, I was like "yeah, that's because I studied the book in every little details for more than a year, don't be so hard on this movie, chill out"
AND THEN THEY ENDED THIS FUCKING MOVIE WITH A BYRON QUOTE!
You know, Marry Shelley's husband. The whole shitty thing ends up on a quote by a guy who was not that good at creating stories and who gladly took his wife's ideas.
Why. Just why. WHY PUTTING THE WOMAN BEHIND THIS MASTERPIECE ASIDE LIKE THAT! WHY PUTTING A MAN IN THE SPOTLIGHT WHEN HE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH SHELLEY'S BRILLIANT MIND!
I'm very disappointed in this movie in so many way and I could write pages about it, I'll die on that hill and I'm ready to discuss about it with anybody arguing that "yes but creature is sexy". That's true, but not the point here. Not at all.
