What do you do when you find a sword in your attic? No idea what that means. But it was hidden in the back of the attic, laid across the beams. I considered the possible origins, but am a bit stumped, since I've never seen a sword quite like it. Was it hidden because of some negative association, like a relic of the civil war? Or could it have just been put there to keep away from kids and then forgotten? I'm not sure if it has any meaning, some certain cultural origin, or something else. After looking at examples of known swords, it appears to be unique. So, I wonder what it's purpose was. I'm not sure if it has any historical significance or if it was placed there as a symbol of protection. If it was. Then maybe I shouldn't remove it from the house. If you have any guesses, let me know. #sword #swordsmith #hidden #foundtreasures #secrets #mystery #relic #weapons #historic #metalsmith #blacksmithing #war #history #treasure #military #martialarts #medieval #civilwar #artifact #antiques #treasurehunting #whatisthisthing (at Memphis, Tennessee) https://www.instagram.com/p/CYiMmZnNumX/?utm_medium=tumblr
