What do you do when you find a sword in your attic? No idea what that means. But it was hidden in the back of the attic, laid across the beams. I considered the possible origins, but am a bit stumped, since I've never seen a sword quite like it. Was it hidden because of some negative association, like a relic of the civil war? Or could it have just been put there to keep away from kids and then forgotten? I'm not sure if it has any meaning, some certain cultural origin, or something else. After looking at examples of known swords, it appears to be unique. So, I wonder what it's purpose was. I'm not sure if it has any historical significance or if it was placed there as a symbol of protection. If it was. Then maybe I shouldn't remove it from the house. During the Great Basement Clean-out of 2019 John found these old glass mason jar canisters but unfortunately the lids were trashed. I cleaned them up anyway and I put them on the shelf and promptly forgot about them. I recently rediscovered them whilst searching for a chipmunk in my kitchen, a live chipmunk. We aren't going to talk about that, I'm still traumatized. Anyway, it turns out you can order replacement lids for these and so I did. The whole set looks lovely and brand new now and they vibe well with my unashamedly rustic country kitchen. Now I get to decide what I'll store in them.
