      Alec looks across his desk at the other, studying him quietly & feeling a certain HEAVINESS in everything right in that moment. it was like the weight of the world had settle on his shoulders & yet it was nothing like that at all, either. it moved, almost like it threatened to choke him. here is all he’s ever known, all he’s ever HAD. knowing that his parents had been banished from Idris because of their former allegiance to the Circle had suddenly made so much sense, but it doesn’t change the fact that because of that banishment, he’d grown up in these very halls that now he’s-- ‘ I’ve been recalled to Idris, ’ he says quietly. ‘ they want me to be there no later than next week. Magnus.... I’m sorry... ’

Especially with this warlock.

“I’m not from this Edim place whatever it is--” Purposely mispronouncing the name because the man was just pissing him off at this point. “--and no one sent me, I came to this planet on my own for my own reasons.” He didn’t expect to get this amount of trouble and he hasn’t even done anything illegal yet. “So maybe cut down on the fuckin’ theatrics why don’t ya?”

Not that it actually surprised him. Working with Magnus Bane wasn't something he made a habit of. His parabatai, on the other hand, was a whole other story. Alec seemed to think that they could trust the warlock and that he'd help them should they need it. And it was why he'd been sent to seek the other out. But standing there he had to wonder if there was more to this meeting than him requesting his help with a problem that was currently plaguing the Institute. Everyone back at the Institute knew there was something between Alec and Magnus. Jace just wondered how much longer the two of them were going to play the whole innocent game. Sooner or later it would come out and when it did he was sorely tempted to tell them everyone knew. Instead, he shoved it all aside and focused on his request. "We've tried that already and it failed. Spectacularly."

“ OH BUT ALEXANDER — ” a swirl of fabric as warlock twists on the balls of his feet, the hem of his jacket rustles around him as he looks delightfully unperturbed at the younger male. seemingly not phased by the negative emotions directed his way. he felt he could read situations pretty well, knew when alec was really unhappy with him and when a little jest would go unharmed. “ — you look so adorable when you’re trying to be mad. ” features twist, mimicking the sight before him before cracking into a bright grin and a playful wink. “ perhaps we could settle our differences over a drink, consider it my way of apology. ”

      everything aches, even still. he can tell healing runes, or some other remedy to his wounds has been applied to his body & even so he still drags. only time might stay this ache, just as it might yet heal all of the other trauma he’s endured. even so, opening his eyes to meet the other’s, he’s not sure if he can find it in himself to be GRATEFUL. death would have been sweet, expected release after everything, so why--  ‘ why didn’t you leave me? ’

azsdfghj I won’t lie, when you first approached me with “so I read your main verse” I kind of exploded because I know how long it is, & the fact you find my dumb plots interesting gives me so much life 😭😭😭 I love AUs, I love exploring things that could potentially be canon or just left of it, & I’m stupidly excited to see where our threads go! <3

eyebrows raise, the challenge evident in her expression, and isabelle doesn’t bother curving the peal of laughter that escapes from her lips as magnus speaks. her balance on the chair is precarious at best, heeled feet planted shoulder width apart in order to even out her weight distribution. “hey, it’s not my fault someone’s a bit slow on the reaction,” she teases in reply, securing her position even more so by shifting her weight as she turns to her new brother, hands gripping her staff tightly as she does — though they agreed to a fair training session at the beginning of this, with no cheap shots and no magic involved, that was hours ago, and she wouldn’t necessarily put it past him to shove her off the chair in retaliation. it was a cheap shot to yell out her claim, she knows that well enough from max having done so to her a few hundred times, but instead of apologizing, isabelle just sticks out her tongue instead. her fingers swat at his own staff as he uses it to poke her in the chest, the pout forming on her lips already as she allows a slight huff to pass. “think you’re up for it?” she challenges easily, hair flicking over her shoulder as she props her staff up, leaning her weight against it, a picture of casualness. as though she hadn’t just been the one acting childish moments ago. “i mean, i know cats always land on their feet if they get knocked off — but do cat eyed warlocks?”
