send ❄️ for our muses to be caught indoors due to a snowstorm .
the wind howls viciously outside, the winter storm brewing cold air so freezing one step outside could give you frostbite in under seconds. it’s why they had to cut their battle short and find refugee in this abandoned cabin, somewhere off route nine. better taking refugee than taking foolish risks. though, this happened all much too fast. naturally bede suspects this was none other than a pokemon’s doing ( probably an abomasnow’s work ) and now, they have no choice but to hang tight till it’s passes over. well, easier said than done. who was going to find them? they couldn’t do anything till the storm dies down.
they sit together and press their weary backs against a makeshift wall of crates, this was far from comfortable, albeit they didn’t have the luxury to pick and choose. they had to make due with what they had. at the very least the pokemon were safe, tucked away in their pokeballs, shielded from nature’s wrath — so that’s one least thing to worry about. still, a heavy sigh escapes him, the cold air making his breath visible, and his hands hug over himself as he steals a glance over at his companion, who too, is feeling the chill slowly get to her ( that ‘ optimistic ’ smile gloria tries to maintain doesn’t fool him, either. ) while they were braced from the worse of the elements the cold air circulates all around, eventually, it would sap all their warmth till none remained. gruesome, but very realistic and he can’t throw out that possibility for the sake of staying positive that they’ll be found. since they’re so close he hears her shuffle about, though it makes sense. did she seriously expect a simple wool dress, leggings, and a cardigan to do the job and keep her warm? though, he won’t berate her for it. neither of them saw this coming and it’s no use pointing fingers.
still, a look of worry glosses over violet eyes as he watches her helplessly shiver. he was bit chilled too sure, but not like this. nervously he bites the inside of the cheek and takes a better, more observant look at their current surroundings. given all the boxes this seems like a storage shed, so logically, there has to be some firewood lying around? he had some spare flint in his pocket, but that’s no good without the wood to create the spark. all the crates were covered, too, going through them all could take forever, and there’s no guarantee they’d have what they’re searching for. he needed to act now. frowning he lowers his reluctant gaze down, the view of one of his coat buttons coming into view, at that moment an idea pops in his head. though, just the mere thought makes pale cheeks heat up in a flash of red. ‘ suck it up and do it. it’s the right thing to do and you don’t have much choice. ’ the trainer thinks to himself, surprised that he’s actually putting someone else before him. that senile old woman from ballonea is rubbing off on him, changing his selfish ways ( thawing away at that kind heart he froze over long ago ) and he doesn’t like it. but, what can you do?
fully resolved bede shrugs and begins to stand, immediately catching her attention, though before gloria can question him he unbuttons his jacket one by one, before crouching back down next to her, gently draping the coat around her shoulders. then palms press firmly onto her shoulder blades, a serious look overtaking his features, but this time it’s … different, like something, or someone, important is at stake. ❝ gloria, listen to me. i’m going to look around for some firewood. i need you to stay put and “borrow” this for me for a little while, understand? ❞ the coat is insulated, therefore it should keep her warm for awhile while he looks for what they desperately need. he could suck it up and bear for cold himself for a little while to find some supplies. confirming he still has her full attention, he turns his head over to the direction where he’ll be. ❝ i’ll be right over there by the other crates, in your line of sight, so no need to worry. ❞ on that note gloved hands slip from her shoulders as he stands, walking off to go towards the crates and hopefully, find some firewood to make this whole experience a little less dreary. he’ll get them out of this mess, he swears it.
