My dearest wife,      As the birth of our child approaches, I find my thoughts, which I have always been able to organize, jumble beyond my control. The words which once flowed with ease now catch and fall away, leaving me unable to speak. I wish to tell you in person the feelings I am experiencing and the thoughts I am having, but that would be nearly impossible.       So instead I leave you this letter, where I have had time to carefully write down everything I think you would like to know. To begin, I have never felt this amount of excitement and fear at once. My worries, I know, are quite normal for a new father, but the fact that I can feel them at the same moment I am giddy with excitement astounds me. At the very least, I find comfort in the thought that you must feel the same way.      I find that as each day passes, I am becoming more protective of you, and for that, I apologize. I am sure you do not want me acting the way I am with such severity, though I cannot help it. The thought of our child inside of you, safe and protected only so long as you are the same, makes me want to stand guard by your side every moment of the day. Surely, as nothing less than Asgard's finest warrior, I have no reason to worry, but I am unable to stop. The thought of our child, so small and delicate in our arms, is far too enticing to let the smallest amount of harm come to either of you. Do forgive me if I become too overbearing, won't you?      Nothing pleases me more than the idea of our child with us, and I am anxious for their birth. I love you, and I already love our child just as much, and I am nearly unable to wait until we are truly able to welcome our child into our family. I am certain we will know no greater bliss, even at the moments we are awake at such an ungodly hour. We will be together with our child, and we will be a family. I've heard children grow up far too fast, anyway. I am certain we will be grateful for the extra hours once they are no longer so young.      I will allow you to return to whatever it is this letter has interrupted, now. After all, you do only have so long before you are no longer in control of your own schedule for the day. If you take anything away from this lengthy ramble, I do hope it is the excitement and love I feel.
