Books and Blood || Nyla&Bella
There were three main libraries in the city. The busiest one was located at the college and generally was focused on the books students would need for study, the next was the city governance library where one could find laws for the city, as well as old newspapers and transcripts of town council meetings, and the like. The main library however was the Opulence Public Library, it was a good mixture of all things, but what it had that the others seemed to lack for a vast selection of books written by supernaturals about supernatural things. For Bellamy, who had studied Ethics Among Supernaturals in the town she had been turned before coming to Opulence, she found this section to be the most interesting.
Which was why she found herself there that day, manicured nails running over the spines of books as a small Hello Kitty designer purse knocked against her hip with each step she took in her black heels. She stopped in place when she found one titled ‘Murderous Intent: The Concept of Murder In Magic’ and drew it from the shelf, leather bound it was probably only an inch thick but upon opening it to learn of the contents she discovered the text was quite small, golden eyes wandering over the contents of it.
“‘Need and Instinct,’” she read one of the chapter titles allowed to herself, before biting her bottom lip and tasting the lipstick upon it incidentally. To a new vampire she was likely overwhelming to the senses. Not only was she brightly coloured, and obviously dead from the lack of a heartbeat in her chest, but her scent was quite powerful. Bella covered the natural scent of her body, a gentle musky, with the scents of caramel and vanilla, something she hoped made her seem less dead.
“‘Instinct varies from species to species but when it comes to instinct and need it is most important, when relating to murder, to consider individually the overlap of these in each species,’” she read gently, eyes only leaving the page when she heard movement behind her.
