Calligraphy class?? I‘m jealous omgg I want!! What kind of stuff do you make there cause I’ve literally watched a hundred calligraphy videos before bc it‘s so prettyyy but i‘m so bad at it rip and I didn‘t know you can take classes XD What kind of stuff do you do in class?
I mean the class is still just starting out so we're still working on the different techniques, materials and such. For example, differences between writing with marker and with ink, different size nibs, etc. But mainly the teacher brings various alphabets/fonts for us to learn how to do and asks us to write things using those fonts; eg. names, places, ideas, anything that pops into our head; and having to do it on the spot helps it happen more naturally and it is just soooo fun and relaxing. (Except for when there's like one letter you can't friggin get right and that's a bit frustrating lol). At some point I guess we'll do banners/posters/cards and stuff like that. It really is a great class and over time, doing calligraphy will start making your regular handwriting more fluid and pretty, and it's just really really fun. 100% recommend. It's like art therapy for me tbh.
The class is actually an elective at my school so I really don't know if you can take classes somewhere? I'm guessing some sort of art institute/school must give something. But if that's not an option, idk I'd recommend going to your local art store, asking for a calligraphy set, markers, and some indian ink, and just start out with youtube tutorials or print some worksheets. Or if you can get an actual book on calligraphy techniques and/or different fonts and alphabets, even better.
