there's stars laid out across the sky
what a sad story
the light that illuminates this little piece
is brighter than those
there's words for it
pollution
radiating
skylines
even still, with words we find
i see you out there
the sun can't take me away
even in eclipses, my presence is made
somewhere along the way
we turned to creating our own lights
in hopes we could see
shooting stars, falling flares
where did all those wishes go?
did they find a soft landing?
did they keep on soaring?
did they keep on going?
they called you fools
for believing that the glorious galaxy
could make a difference
down there on your land of blues and greens
tides and turns
weather patterns and urns
ashes to stardust
lightning piercing stone crusts
what a world, what a word, what a
beautiful, beautiful, thing
foolish believer, believer of things unseen
it's not your fault they blotted out the stars from where you clearly see
foolish believer, believing in foolish things
it's not your foolishness, they're casting their own spells on
a curse of theirs, doomed, to repeat
