XD That's a BIG subject obvsl, and there's allot of research and scholarship on it out there, not all of which will agree with the take I presented. I particularly enjoyed Graeber and Wengrow's handling of it in The Dawn of Everything(pp. 330, 399, 452, 464-9, 475, 482, 503), which is probably the most direct inspiration for that particular reblog-reply(tho: their handling of it is part of larger arguments, so it'd probably be better if you, at least, read from Chapter 9 to the conclusion to see HOW they're using it and why).
Another discussion of Cahokia I love, though it only touches on the issues I mentioned in that reply sort of tangentially(ie: by discussing all the human sacrifice they were doing), is Ancient Faith and the Fall of Cahokia, a lecture the anthropologist Tim Pauketat gave as part of the Chicago Humanities Festival in 2017...
...Or at least I THINK that's the lecture I liked; it's the most likely one in my youtube History, but I haven't watched it recently so idk if it is THE one(the one I'm remembering was a discussion of how the religion practiced at Cahokia was embedded both in the landscape and in a sort of "conversation" with cosmic forces? And how the sacrifices related to that "conversation"?? So if that lecture is about that then it IS the one I remember). The channel Ancient Americas also has a good summary of the research on Cahokia circa 2022, though the channel-runner's not an academic so he just sticks to the consensus positions.

hi! muse of void anon again - i hope these asks aren't bothersome, but i think i've thought up a cool approach and wanted to share! i was thinking about both the dreams and subconscious/unconscious examples you provided and imagined a muse of void whose presence perpetuates not reality exactly, but UNreality - which is to say Reality and the concept of what is Real and Existent becomes more malleable around them, and their and others' subconscious thoughts, beliefs, memories and perceptions have more of a shaping influence on the world, almost like how things might work in a dream bubble. (though in a way that kind of IS perpetuating reality, as in inspiring others to define what reality is?) i think it ties nicely into the "Potential" part of void as well, sort of an "anything can happen if you're willing to make it happen" deal, which also relates to the idea of Magic! it's a pretty hope-y and/or rage-y vibe too, but as you said, there's a lot of overlap and connections between aspects. i really hope this makes a decent amount of sense for the title, and that it's interesting enough to be worth sending! u-u

Kinda riffing on that, it makes me think of a sort of "Sleeping Beauty" version of the same idea, where the Muse of Void gets put into a coma somehow or something and then their dreams start manifesting irl, which drives the action of the plot somehow(or maybe: their dreams start invading the dreams of the other players, which drives the action of the plot)
