Lets rock!
Track nine is the album's biggest hail. The whole gathering calling one god by every name he's ever worn: Bacchus in the south, Pan in the woods, Cernunnos in the cold, Faunus in the rocks, Veles in the rivers, Dionysus in the cups. Not because we couldn't decide on one. Because none of the names were ever wrong. He comes for the wine, stays for the dance, leaves before the dawn, and every seven winters we open the door again.
That's an old habit, calling one god by whatever name the people in front of you already use for him. The Romans had a term for doing it on purpose: interpretatio romana, treating a foreign god as your own god wearing a different mask. Tacitus wrote about Roman observers doing exactly this to the gods of a Germanic tribe, matching their local figures to Castor and Pollux. The Greeks did the same thing centuries earlier, calling Egyptian gods by Greek names. Sometimes the blending got literal: statues of the god Jupiter Ammon were carved wearing ram horns, borrowed straight from the Egyptian god folded into him. Different cultures, same instinct. Whatever you call him, you already know him.
