9. what song have you been listening to a lot that you would recommend to fans?
the fan looks eager and proud; this isn’t a question she gets a lot. people seem to be more interested in her type or her view on her career. they rarely want to get to know her, which makes it easier for her. in this moment, she lets a bit of the real jiae peek out, if only because she’s stumped on what else to say. “ i’ve been listening to a lot calmer music lately . wish’s stuff is so fun and up-tempo and makes you feel alive ! but i think it is good to slow down sometimes and care for yourself . ” ever since she had been exposed to more people with mental illnesses, jiae had become an advocate for self care publicly as well as in her private life. “ so lately i’ve been listening to the black skirts ? do you know them ? they’re a korean band . specifically the song ‘who do you love’ . ”
13. what is do you consider to be your most charming feature/trait?
the question comes to her on a post-it note attached to wish’s most recent album. this is an easy question, something she rarely shies away from. jiae takes the sharpie from whoever is seated next to her and begins to scribble a doodle. it’s a quick, simple ( yet still fairly decent ) self-portrait, highlighting her ears. she writes the word ‘ears’ next to the picture, signs her name complete with a heart before handing it back. “ i think i’ve grown into them well , don’t you ? ” she asks with a little laugh, using both hands to push them forward before making a face to go along with it.
26. what is your favorite movie/book you’ve seen/read recently?
“ oh ! i’m so happy you asked this . ” jiae reached forward and held the hands of the younger girl in front of her. “ we have a lot of free time when we’re waiting to record so i’ve finally been able to get some reading done ! ” the other girls in wish know that jiae can usually be found sleeping when she’s not recording. or watching videos on youtube. rarely reading, though her book suggestion is one she managed to read when her phone died during a particularly long recording day. “ pachinko by lee minjin ? it’s about a korean family that moves to japan and i truly think everyone should read it . promise me you’ll try it , yes ? ”
