Year of the Frog is something a little different from me. I consider this an anthology, a collection, or a celebration of my music up to this point in my life. This is a large collection, including recent works and many past unreleased tracks. Some written as part of daily / weekly VGM writing prompts, others as spontaneous 1 hour compositions, and others still as one-off tunes that haven't had a home until now. Included are some FM chiptune-inspired tunes, mellow chillout grooves, high octane arcade style jams, and experiments writing music for what I think might be an RPG that only exists in my head. I wanted to show my versatility with this collection, and also finally get this music out there to the world. As an artist it can sometimes be hard to release things, as it may not be up to some arbitrary standard we set for ourselves. The truth is, we are always improving, learning, and growing every day we engage with our craft. I no longer want the idea that I'll be better tomorrow to stop me from doing something today. At first glance this may seem like a bit of an odd mix, but to me each of these songs tells a small story. I hope others can listen to some of these songs and imagine their own stories to go along with them. Thank you all for listening to my music over the years, I hope to continue writing for years to come. All the best, - Jordancreditsreleased May 19, 2021
Yasuhisa Watanabe - “eastshire” FM Sound Module Maniax Release Date: 2006
“Brink of Control” by Markey Jester. Rave/Drum ‘n’ Bass/FM Synth.
An original track made by “DJ M.Jester” to showcase the pitch and volume control options of the Dual PCM sound driver for the Sega Genesis.
Egor The Cat had asked in response to the previous video, whether or not there was pitch wheel support, and while there is, it wasn't very clear in the past few tracks, since they weren't really needed in them.
So this tune is designed SPECIFICALLY to show the pitch and volume control a hell of a lot thoroughly. I figured a Jungle tune would be the best style to use to demonstrate these capabilities. Rather than try to recreate an already existing Jungle track, I thought it would be cool to make one of my own (hence the reason "M.Jester" is the name of the Artist in this instance d=).
The samples used in this Jungle track are as followed:
Amen Break = The Winstons - Amen Brother (Obviously...) "Burning" Vocal = Urban Shakedown - Burning Passion A Harmonic Synth = Shakatak - Walk the Walk (The intro) Another Synth = From some science video from the 90's Various Raggae Vocals = From a "Simon_Harris - Breaks & Beats" volume compilation (used often by rave/dance/jungle artists during the 90's).

Savaged Regime - “Command & Conquer - Act on Instinct” (YM2612 Cover)
Original by Frank Klepacki
“Heart of Fire” (Sega Genesis/MegaDrive Original Song) by SuperJet Spade.
A dance tune I created from an experiment I was doing some weeks ago. No samples used! How this was created was that I was finding a way to use the YM2612's extended channel 3 mode to create a 2-op hi-hat+kick and snare in order to save at least one channel on either the FM chip or the PSG chip. I ended up building the song, and here we are. I composed this song entirely in aeolian mode in the key of F.
Fun fact: The name I chose for this song is taken directly from a line of text seen in the title screen of the game Alien Soldier. The difference is that I swapped "on" with "of."
In 1993 Silly Snake re-defined the platform genre with critically acclaimed reviews and record-breaking sales across the world. A licensed TV show, plush characters and serialised comic soon followed. An unexpected global phenomenon from the City Guys Inc. studio, the developers rushed out Silly Snake 2: Silly Snake's Soccer Blast to coincide with the USA World Cup. A radical departure in terms of gameplay, this shmup bore little resemblance to the original hit platformer. Now Silly Snake traversed a variety of settings, shooting soccer balls from his mouth to vanquish a myriad of enemies. Building up power ups to eventually unlock the flaming golden ball, Silly Snake 2 culminated in a dramatic boss showdown with the all-powerful Diego Maradona. Sales of the game were mediocre, but not poor enough to discourage further sequels in later years.
