#2644 - Maorina sp. Flutter-wing Fly
AKA trembling-wing, or waving-wing flies, collectively.
The 70 or so known species of Pallopteridae are found in the temperate zones of the North and South hemispheres, but not much is known about their biology. The larvae of a few are known to prey on longicorn beetles, bark beetles, and fungus gnats, but others are plant eaters and have been found in buds and stems. Adults have been found on flowers and low in shady vegetation.
