Nerdy bestie Rafe x gamer reader
“I’m never passing this stupid class!”I groaned in defeat while looking at the big fat forty on my test. “If you weren’t playing Subnautica all night you might’ve passed, dummy.”, Rafe stood in front of me with that same old smug smile while holding up his own graded paper with the usual 100 at the top. I rolled my eyes and lightly smacked his shoulder as I stood up, “Let’s go get something to eat, I'm starving.” Rafe looked over my answers as we stepped outside the lecture hall.
“This could’ve been easily avoided if you came to my study group, sunshine.”, the cool air hit my face as I pulled up my scarf up to my face to keep me warm. “I didn’t even see your text till 4 o clock this morning…after I finished my game.”, Rafe folded my paper and stuffed it in his pocket trying to warm his hands. “Let’s go and warm up with some coffee, the campus’s cafe has your favorite muffins so let’s celebrate your A and sulk in my bad grades,eh?.”I said tilting my head looking up at Rafe’s face. His cheeks and nose were a rosy red tint from the cold as he adjusted his glasses further up the bridge of his nose. His lips were pursed in thought, “Well, I don’t see why not but we’re gonna have to get it to go. I have some studying to do for my statistics class.”, the campus cafe was busy as always, students tapping essays on their computers, jazz playing slowly in the background and the occasional laugh from a club meetup filled the air. “ I pulled down my scarf as I stepped up to the counter. “Welcome to Student Cafe, what can I getcha?”, the barista asked in a fake cheery voice, “Can I get two hot chocolates and two brown sugar muffins?”The barista nodded as she typed up the order, “You want those muffins to be plain or with our ‘homemade’ cheese danish?”I looked up at Rafe who shrugged. “One of each, if that’s not too much trouble.” the barista nodded, tapping up my total. I was reaching for my wallet when I heard a ding. Rafe had his black amex card against the card reader, both the barista and I looked in shock. Me because I planned on paying and her because he had a black amex card as a college student, I huffed looking annoyed, “I was gonna pay, it would’ve been my treat.”, Rafe shook his head as sat down in one of the barstool to watch as the baristas made our coffee in speedy precision. “You know I don’t like owing anyone. Not even my best friend.”, I sighed resting my arms against the cool granite counter breathing in the scent of coffee beans and sugary treats. “Here’s your order.”, a barista handed me our order before going back to work. Rafe and I walked along the paved path to his dorm building as I talked about the new mod on my minecraft game. “So, all the baby animals are even babier?”Rafe asked, confused as I showed him a picture I took of my monitor with a pixelated baby wolf staring back at Rafe.
Rafe had a private suite and everything was as organized and neat as ever. “Take your boots off and set them on the shoe rack.”, Rafe pointed to the rack next to his door filled with a range of men’s shoes. I placed my boots onto the rack and placed by the back next to it. “Make yourself at home, i’ll be in my room studying.”, Rafe took off his jacket laying it on the back of his couch before heading into his room, I placed the drinks and food on the kitchen counter of his fully furnished kitchen and washing my hands and taking off my coat and scarf. I grabbed a muffin and drink and headed into Rafe’s room to find him already typing on his computer, “You're gonna need a new prescription with how close you are to that computer.”, I said as I placed the cup and muffin on the desk, wrapping my arms around his broad shoulders. “You smell good.”, I said, smelling his scent. Rafe chuckled, turning around to look up at me glaring at me through his clear lens with a smirk, “I can’t have you here if you're gonna distract me, sunshine.”, I felt my face turn hot at Rafe’s charm. I slowly pulled off his glasses and he didn’t look half bad, “Well, you can’t study if you don’t have your glasses.”, I say with a smile putting the glasses on my own face Rafe wrapped his arms around my waist snuggling his face into my stomach, “Fine, you win.”, he mumbled standing up and pushing me against the bed hovering over me making the chain I got him for his birthday dangle in my face.
Rafe and I sat in silence for a moment, both waiting for the other to make a move. I slowly reached for his face pulling him closer and kissing his slightly chapped lips and breathing in his cologne. Rafe flipped me onto his lap and grabbed my hips as he deepened the kiss trailing down to my neck and leaving light nips and kisses in his path. “Rafe, stop, you'll leave a mark.”, Rafe shook his head, continuing to leave kisses across my collarbone. “So? Maybe that’ll keep some douche away.”, I laughed. “Like you?”Rafe rolled his eyes.
As the evening came, the cups of hot cocoa laid cold and untouched and the muffins still warm in the bag as Rafe and I laid in his bed snuggling and watching my favorite youtuber live stream a game off Rafe’ tv. “You think Sarah will notice you're gone?”Rafe asked before laying a kiss on my forehead. I shook my head, “She’s probably out with John B doing God knows what.”, Rafe scoffed at the thought as he tightened his grip around my body. “You should come over more often, maybe my smartness will rub off on you.”, I giggled, “I’ll come over if you get a PS5 for me to use. You literally have nothing to do here besides sleep, eat, and study.”, Rafe looked confused. “You're right. It’s almost like I'm in college.”, I scoffed, pushing his glasses down his face in annoyance.
